Well, back in the day it was GM that fit under the hood with less install hassels with less steering and suspension issues. Also the GM stuff stayed uniform for 50yrs where as Ford was always changing stuff.
The GM stuff was cheaper and you got more HP for your dollar. All this was before you could buy stuff from 1-800-billitt.
You could make a Ford just as fast but you had to work at it and it cost because Ford just didn't get it until they started messing with a 289 but it still took awhile for the hot rodders to catch on.
Today I would say Ford may have a slight advantage in power to price on new modern crate engines.

The SBC for many years enjoyed a significant price and power advantage due to better aftermarket parts, wider availability of used parts and lower prices. I've built a few and used to love them. Cheap parts everywhere and lots of expertise to learn from. But any meaningful advantage ended about 10 years ago as the SBF caught up and passed it.

Recent example....the new Mustang GT beats the new Camaro and Challenger in about all categories.....with a lots less cubes. Why has Ford won (and placed) more engines in the Engine Masters? A couple of years they won first, second, third, fifth, sixth etc. Where were all the more powerful for less money Chevy's?

Chevy has some nice newer series motors, no question. Not necessarily more powerful then Ford stuff though.

For the same reason I use Walmart ammo when I go plinking. If I am shooting competitively or hunting I use the expensive but accurate custom loads....

"Because Jeff says it does." That right there should give you a clue about the reliability of the information. Anyone who would take a newer corvette and put a 1952 corvette body on it, does not have all of his puppies from the same litter.

Danr, when was the last time you saw a '52 Corvette? When was the first?

Lo, all these many decades, I've always thought '53 was the first year for Corvettes.

That's because Jim Hall and the Chapparals were primarily Can-Am cars. He tried to adapt them to run with the GT's.

Lookie Loo, when looking at Dans cobra. "Hey, nice car. What is it?.
Response, "it's a 1952 corvette. Only a few produced."

Lookie Loo turns to his girlfriend and says. "Wow I was right, I knew they made them in 52"

back to Dan "Thanks for letting me see one."

It says it is built on an M3 frame. Isn't that the little weak 4 cyl car??? Hope the suspension and drivetrain are not M3. Even the frame itself may be too weak and twist under power.

Started out as a little 4 cyl. Who knows what year "M3" it was built on.

From Wikipedia:

"Based on the 1986 model year E30 3-Series, the first M3 was introduced with a 2.3 L I4 S14B23 engine (or S14 in shorthand). The engine design was based on various BMW genealogy: basic block layout from the M10 4 cylinder (found in the 2002 and 320 series) overbored and reinforced to similar specifications of the BMW M88 inline-6. The valve train and head architecture from BMW's M1 and, later, M6 inline-6 cylinder was adopted for aggressive breathing, resulting in outstanding performance for the day."

Default Backdraft LS7

Backdraft's are not built on BMW frames. I personally built this car. What questions you want me to answer? This car is the fastest I have ever built and it has alot of options.

The seller must not know what he has as his ad clearly states it is built on a M3 frame.

What is this car worth in todays market???

I'm not going to there with the price. If you want a new one of these maybe without the Lingenfelter motor in it the price is considerably lower. I completed this car and did a couple chevy shows with it. Over all the majority liked it, but there are a few passonate Ford guys out there. They gave me some of their points of view. Oh well, not going there either. If you have some detail questions about the Lingenfelter LS7 Backdraft, please give me a call. 859-630-9099

Oh brother !!

There is no engine safe from you, I don't care what brand it is.

In its day, a 427 Ford produced more power than any big Chevy ever did and that is just a plain fact. Ever heard of the 427 SOHC ?

Fast forward to today, put up the highest power Chevy you got, I can match it with a Ford.

I own my share of Chevrolets as well as Fords. I have not blown up either one.
