Default Back to the Real World

Well, I'm home after a long cobra trip. 7 days driving in periods of torrential downpour. Yes, I got drenched 7 days in a row because I hate to put on the top. Met up with 8 other SPFs for the 7th annual Super Cruz out of Taos, NM. We drove around northern NM and southern CO. North to Gunnison, CO, south to Los Alamos, NM, east to Cimmaron, NM and west to Lake City, CO. Lots of fun over 2500 miles. Motor ran great thanks to Jeff Classic who changed my jets to 81s from 85s for the altitude. It'll take 3 days to clean up the car to original again. I'll be done tomorrow. I got home Friday evening. Short on sleep, stuffed from 3 meals a day and side hurting from so much laughing. It's about the people. Lots of alcohol, food, altitude and twisting, turning, high speed trips. Woo Hoo.
Now back to the real world.

AZ Bob

Bob, how I envy your being able to take such a trip. Some day, some year, mine will be back on the road. Great to hear that you thrash your car and are willing to put it over the road. It is a SPORTSCAR, dammmmit!

Karl? Karl? Did there used to be a guy named Karl or Karlos or something like that who used to ride around with us? Bob, do you remember him? What ever happened with is car?

Karl, How's the project coming along?

Thanks gang. I'll see some of you guys Tuesday night at the 5 N Diner. Jeff, I have your jets to return...yes, I replaced them myself and didn't use a single fire extinguisher.

I've always enjoyed the anticipation involved in changing Holley jets on top of a hot engine. No fun if the engine is cool.

Hey Karlos,
I hear you about the fuel spilling on headers etc... but knock on wood I have never had a fire from my spilling gas anyway. Hope you can say the same cause I bet you have changed jets and so an a couple of times over the years. PS... Is she any closer to hitting the streets? Got a new target date, what is left?

Robert oooh,
You said you changed jets back to the 85's already but was thinking you might like the 81's and the little better mileage so would leave them in. Did you see any symptoms or signs she was lean with the 81's or just go back cause it seemed like the thing to do? Look forward to hearing all your war stories at the Diner on Tuesday night. Welcome home.

Don, what happens on the Super Cruz, stays on the Super Cruz. You should hope.

Jeff, no, I never heard any lean rattling anywhere, high or low but did not "play" much with the loud pedal. In fact, I got 20.28mpg for the whole 2500 mile trip. Take that, Prius. Do I get a tax break?
Car runs good here with the 85 jets.

Nice to see you again Scott. When the weather is better you will see many more cobras at the 5 N Diner on Tuesday nights.
