Default Toyo Tires

Has anyone tried or heard anything about the Toyo Proxes 4 tires? I got a super deal on two new ones today and I'm thinking about putting them on the car. They look great, but then so do the BFG's.

I read your post Dan, but no experience with Toyo tires. You must be referring to your other car since I don't see any 15 inch tires wide enough for your cobra. Good luck. Good deals are wonderful anytime.

I use T1Rs and I think they are a very fine tire. They are round, the QC is extremely good, they balance easily and they are sticky. I use them on Coopers. I like the AVONs for the cobra to get 15s.

Bob, I have a set of 16's that also fit the Cobra. The tires are 275-45-16. They are 1/4 smaller in diameter than the tires that were on these rims.

16's next thing we know you'll be up in Fitz terrority with 18's or into the ricer set with 20's and beyond. Oh, the inhumanity.

I have used Toyo Tires on race cars and without question they are hands down the best tires on the market for that purpose. I did a season of endurance racing - 40 hours total including the 25 hour at Thunderhill in my souped up Honda (go ahead and laugh, it lapped Thunderhill quicker than my SPF with a 427) on ONE set of tires. They are the greatest. One has to think that the street tires are killer too...

Thanks Mulv. I guess I did good from a practical standpoint although the break with tradition may cause some heartburn for the more traditional set..

So Danr, what will be next? 18", or larger, wheels, bigger stereo, than what you already have, hard top, air conditioning, cup holders??????

Hellava bunch of things to do to "sports cars". I guess you could do something really ab-surb like put a huge Chevy in your car, but hellll, you wouldn't want all that reliability or horse power.

Dan....each time I go to a NASA track event TOYO has a truck selling and installing tires. Many racers seem to like this MFG.

Oh sure, you mean the guys who like Radial TA's because they are made by a French company? Perhaps they prefer the Japanese Firestones? Since there are no original parts in the cars and a lot seem to be made in South Africa, always a major auto manufacturing hub for sports cars in the 60's - put whatever you want on your car and then do what a lot of guys do with the phoney Shelby tags from FinishLine. Use these babies and you will have a "continuation" tire:

Steve, Chill out.. I was pullin' everyone's leg. I chose these tires because I like them and the price was right. Now I have a full set of four G Force radials to sell. I've never been one to worry about what other folks think anyway. Afterall, I hang out with Mikie, don't I? You know what folks say about that.

I am partial to Rugers and shotguns and particularly enjoy trap shooting. Sorry guys I know this is a Cobra forum, but could not let this pass, since I too am a gun enthusiast. tin-man:
