Default Vinyl for hardtop

Here's a couple of pics of the work I had done to the top. Had vinyl put on the top and carpet installed for the headliner. Looks pretty sharp! Now if I could only keep the car running.......

Was the idea for the vinyl to add a little insulation or sound deadening?

The idea behind it was just to give the car a retro look. Seems like how the car would have been done in the late 60's early 70's. Really changes the entire look of the car.
