Sept 11th.
Since the 4th is out of the question and long range forecast is for double digits, finally, lets do something.
I still like the idea of Prescott, the back way, to Lynx Lake for brunch.

The 8th annual Wayne Scott Memorial ride (drive) is going to be on Saturday, 9/11. This annual event is in tribute to fallen Phoenix motorcycle officer Wayne Scott who was killed while on duty on 9/10/2002 and in honor of all Arizona law enforcement officers who have given their lives in the line of duty. Originally this was a motor cycle event but has changed over the years into a motorcycle/classic car/sports car fun ride. The current list of sport cars includes:
- 01 Dodge Viper RT/10
- 05 Dodge Viper SRT10
- 06 Lotus Elise
- 03 Porsche 911 Cabriolet
- 08 BMW 335
- 98 Mustang Cobra
- C6 Z06
- 10 cars from the Ferrari/Lambo Club
- 63 Jaguar XKE
- 72 Ferrari 246 GTS
I may be biased, but I think we need more snakes. The route is listed below. Plenty of break-off points. Some folks will be staying over night in Flagstaff at the Hilton Garden Inn.
- Meet at CCV Church parking lot at 67th Ave & Happy Valley Road at 7:00 am
- West on SR74 to US 60 north to Wickenburg.
- North on US 89 up Yarnell Hill to Prescott (1st chance to brake off)
- US 89 north to 89A north up Mingus Mountain to Jerome
- US 89A into Cottonwood (2nd chance to brake off)
- US 89A north to Sedona (3rd chance), up Oak Creek Canyon to I-17 (4th chance), and on to Flagstaff
- Return to the Valley by I17 south

For you people who take Carefree Hwy to Wickenburg: http://www.azcentral.com/news/articl...rk-begins.html . May cause a slowdown. Construction is only Monday-Thursday on 4 day work week.

It would be great to make this run....however the trip to get to Wickenburg is farther for me that the run itself....is there someone who is on the South side of Phoenix I could meet up with and follow up to the starting point?

I can meet you somewhere along the line.. How about around the 60 and the 10? We can continue on to the 303 and go up that way?

Lunch is fine with us at Lynx Lake, and Dan if you could bring that over flow tank, and how much did you want. Skully

That might work....I have a supplier at the 101/Rio Salado, so I am familiar with the 60 exit and that area.... Trying to find my way around up there in the "big city" is kinda stressful..... Is there a place along the 10/60 you were thinking about?

Just curious: If you all are driving the same route on the same day as the Wayne Scott Memorial run, why would you not want to cruise and socialize with other classic & sports car enthusiasts?

Are any of the eastside gang or folks from the south valley going to make this gig? If so, shall we meet somewhere and go as a group?

I'm located in north central Phoenix, but will meet you guys wherever. Are you planning to take the 303 off of I 17 or Carefree Highway?
