Default Oval air filter element

Does anyone have any idea what filter element is used in the oval cobra air cleaners and if any local stores would carry them? It is approx. 10" x 20 1/2" OD. I have been to several local parts stores and no one has a clue without having a part number to go off of and I don't want to order online unless I know it is the correct one. Thanks.

Sounds like the one that fits the large oval Ford air cleaner. Order through Summit Racing. It will fit.

Try to avoid the 1 1/2 inch high filters, as they don't flow very much air and can reduce power.

I went to K&N's website and found one for mine. Expensive, but last a lifetime.

Looking at the Summit site the measurements are too small.....$70 is a lot to waste on a filter that may not fit! There is a raised ridge in the lower half of the filter housing, so a smaller filter, even by 1/2", will most likely not work.

If you order anything from Summit it's going to be wrong. Even when you double double check.

I have a spare standard oval paper filter. I bought a K&N type to replace it that my fuel injection system required. It's yours for the asking.

You can go to O'riley and buy one off he shelf. I'll see if I can find the number. I believe they are made by Puritan. I'll get back to you after I get back to the land of the Big Mac next week..

Try "Mustangs Plus", Stockton, CA. at www.mustangsplus.com, and 1-800-999-4289. In their catalog on page 184 is the oval "Cobra" air cleaner and on page 185 is the filter element, part #1999 at $19.95. Ford Racing no longer makes them. www.CJ Pony Parts.com has the filter for $21.95 , also, "National Parts Depot" at 1-800-235-3445 shows one on page 119 for $21.95. On another note, I hope that you can join us this Saturday morning for the run down to Arivaca. John
