Default Tucson Cobras to Arivaca on 10-9-10

Hi guys, This Saturday we'll be going to Arivaca for coffee. The total drive time will be about 3:30 and we'll end up on Ajo and I-10. We will meet at the southeast corner of Valencia and I-10 at the gas station. ( do not go to Valencia and I-19) Meeting time is 8:15 to 8:30, we'll leave at 8:30. This is a fast drive with 23 miles of off camber turns, blind corners, a few deep dips, and elevation changes that may lift you out of your seat. Also, the coffee tastes terrible. After coffee, the road 'kinda straightens out and triple didget speeds are common. Come join us for our first event of the 2010/2011 season.

T' John, Was this "Your Road"? Sounds like fun.

If I only had a car, that was running. Making progress, but still a ways off. EVERYTHING has to be fabricated, fitted, re-fitted, and then attached. Nothing at all like taking "part A and attaching it to part B".

Karl, The FFR MKIV could be assembled in a weekend or less by us in your driveway. When will your kit arrive and when do you want us to start?

John,

Watch out for any barbwire.

Karl, As much as it pains me to admit this.. John is right. Order an FFR and it will be done and over with.

Mike

If, If, If...I had known how much engineering, re-engineering, and re-re-re engineering I had to do, I certainly would have gone another way. Much too late for recriminations now. At long last, it is showing some nice progress, with the help of Mike B. and Mesa Dave (AKA "The Crusher") (funny story, to some of us). All in all, the car will be much better than it was, will hopefully go much straighter, will stay out of the desert, and will no longer carry just the left front wheel through second gear.

Mark, it was nice to meet you. That is a good looking Cobra that you have. You hung in there pretty well going to Arivaca. It was you first time driving your new baby on a road like that and once your initial fears were overcome you did very well. Of course with Bud Keil leading we were driving like old ladies, never did get into triple digets, AND brake lights on turns !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once the day was over I did have 204 miles on my car.

Speak for yourself on that point....I'm glad I was bringing up the rear on the way back....had the chance to fall back a bit and then open her up!!!!! Of course that may have contributed to my broken push rod.....but it looks like that may turn out to be an easy fix and no major damage.

Sounds like a plan. I'll send you a PM in the not too distant future. I'm getting the car ready this week for the car show this Saturday.

What? John, I didn't want to get you lost! Anyway, I had to put the brakes on to let you catch up.
