Ron,

Don't know what you were quoted at B-J, but Direct-Lift has an outlet in your neck of the woods. Shipping costs would be nil, and I bet they could hook you up with an installer. I have the Pro-Park 8S on my wish list; at $1895.00, it is hard to beat.

Thanks for the info. I will check them out. I have a Dakota truck and my wife's mother passed away and left us her 1994 Toyota T-100 truck with only 53000 original miles so now I have 3 vehicles to fit in my 2 car garage. My celiings aren't tall enough to park one truck under another so it will have to be the truck with the cobra on top.
Thanks
Ron

Ron, sounds like a great excuse to buy a lift. I bought mine from American Auto Equipment and it was right at $2000, including shipping. Didn't have to pay the 9% sales tax since they are an out of state seller. Of course, it was manufactured "off shore" but seems to be very sturdy and well built. Took three of us about three hours to assemble. I picked it up at a truck terminal in South Phoenix, with my car trailer and then used a Harbor Freight four wheeled furniture dolly to get the pieces into the garage. BTW, my lift is extra tall, wide, and long so it was more expensive than their standard four post lift. I've gotten very good service from the seller and have no complaints.

When installing the lift, did you have to raise the garage door higher for clearance. Is there still enough room for the cars to be parked side by side, and one on the lift. Also what is the size of your garage, ours is 28 x 20 with a 10 foot celling.

I think the uprights on a standard height lift will be about six feet. The top of the roll bar is probably about four feet, so depending on how far down your garage door is hung, you may not need to change the rails. I built my garage addition a couple years ago, with a lift planned so my door rails and opener have plenty of clearance for the Cobra, but I do have to be aware when I put the truck or another vehicle into the air. About any overhead door service company should be able to make whatever adjustments are needed.

I originally was hoping to park 1 truck under the lift and 1 truck on top so my cobra was easier to get out but my ceiling height is 10 foot and both trucks together are taller so I will still end up having to move cars around to get my cobra out. My garage is 20 by 40 so the cars go in tadem instead of side by side but at least I wont have to move my garage door opener. Thanks for the advice Karl, I will check them out.

John, not to worry! Just "Chop and Channel" the Cobra! It'll be an Original!

Default Greg Smith Equipment has a shop in Tolleson just outside of Phoenix

Ron, I contacted these folks and they have several lifts in stock. I will be getting their Atlas 8000 4 post lift, priced at US$1695. They have a deal with a local installer who will deliver it and install it for US$500. I suggest you look at their web site and perform your due diligence on dimensions of what cars you would be storing versus the lift specs. The store managers name is Art Melvin and his email address is art@gregsmithequipment.com He has been very helpful.

Hope this helps, wa, I feel good, a newbie providing some advice. I guess that's what Club Cobra is all about, people helping people. Cheers, John, AKA, tin-man

Hi Ron, glad I could help. Everything is now up to Voss Performance in Fullerton, California, Car will be ready December 21st, baring any issues,.I'll return to Phoenix December 17, install the lift over the weekend, pick up the car on the 21st, ship it to Phoenix and get it registered at the DMV before Christmas.

It would be real neat if everything goes to plan since my birthday is on the 24th, it would be a mighty fine present to receive after dreamin' of owning a Cobra for 45 years, planning, weighing options, agonizing over BB vs SB, selectng suppliers, debating auto vs stick and all the stuff we go thru before we pull the trigger, for over nine years, then finally, after one year for the build, its arrived. Wa, makes a grown man wanna cry with gut wrenching emotion that its finally true, I got me my own Cobra, halleluja .

Here is a picture of the car and the engine, still in the crate, seems I screwed up on the picture size though.

Looking forward to meeting up with you and all the guys in the Arizona Cobras over the holidays. The excitement is getting to the point where its difficult to contain.......

Cheers, John, AKA, tin-man
