Coyled - Got a question?
Scott,
With as many hard track miles as you put on your car I thought you might know the answer. I will be needing some new rotors (Wilwood) for the Hi-Tech and was wondering who is a local dealer for this stuff.
Any tips and suggestions you can offer is welcome. Looks like my pads and rotors were mismatched causing the pads to wear out the rotors all too quickly. Not enough miles nor were they hard enough miles that this should have happened this quickly.
Gordon, if you are reading this by chance, do you have access to this stuff?
Can't wait to see what happens next.
Jeff

Hey Jeff -- do you have some pictures of your car posted somewhere? And how do you like the 390?

Gordon,
I've got two weeks of travel coming up starting Friday so I'll most likely have to wait till later this month. Do you need to see the car and / or want to swap them out? I think I'd like to have your guys do it so I know its done right and rotors / pads are properly matched so I can avoid this bill again in the next 2,000 miles. Or is that normal?
What is the going rate for new pads and rotors? Street rated pads are fine as the car won't be seeing track time till later next year at the earliest. Don't want to re-use the grinding wheel grade pucks that are in there now.
Ben,
Surprisingly, I really like the 390. I passed on the seller's ad several times because of the 390 and a less than favorable picture. Once I saw it in person, drove it, and thought it over it was a pretty easy decision. The engine has Edelbrock heads, intake and water pump, a nice - lumpy cam (Comp Cams), a new MSD, new Holley 750, lots of ARP fasteners, and later tonight a new alternator.
Runs pretty strong but I'm sure at some point I'll want more power - its inevitable. Still need to tweak it a bit and of course exorcise the road demons that keep popping up.
I am visiting Canton next week and I'll see if I can stuff one of their pans into my carry on.
Ben, nobody ever said (or will say) that these cars were inexpensive but I know they can be lots more reliable than I am experiencing. Took me over a year or so to work the bugs out of my '65 Mustang. Daily driven now everywhere in any weather and has never seen a trailer. Just takes patience, persistence, fanatical maintenance, and an open wallet.

Jeff -- thanks for the reply. Excellent info. I know it will be a bit down the road, but in what form will "more power" take? A 428?

Jeff, talk to Gordon. I have not had any problems with mine so far . Same set of rotors since I got the car, at least 4,000 miles. I have gone to a hard compound pad. good luck. scott.

Jeff, I will need the car to match up the parts needed. I will need to know What options you want in the rotors.

Gordon
When would you like it? I leave this Friday morning and get back on Tuesday night the 11th so Wednesday or Thursday are my only choices next week as I fly out again on Friday to return on the 19th.
Pick a day and let me know. I remember where your shop is so directions are not needed.
Options? You can enlighten me with my choices when I drop it off. A longer life than 2,000 miles would be my first although that's probably not one of them.
