As you can see it's coming along. The build team now consist of Mesa Mike, Mesa Dave, Hector and Karl. We are quickly runing out of things to do. Body work and paint are the next major hurdles. Ofcourse, we still have to get the engine in and running.

I'm sure I've said this before, but if I'd known just how much work this turned into, I would have bought a completed car and dropped my drive train into it. BUT, I didn't and this project has certainly turned into a learning experience. It is very satisfying to have something come together. With all the help from Mike, Dave, and Hector, someone is usually able to come up with an idea of how to do something that works out real well. This build is nothing like a KIT car where all the pieces are pre-engineered and just need to be assembled. Practically EVERY piece has needed to be thought out, fabricated, re-fabricated, and re-re-fabricated before it is put in place. None of us are engineers but we're building a car that will be 'way far better than it was originally. Then, if I can just get it to carry BOTH front wheels through 2nd gear, instead of just the left...

What he said.
Except for the carry BOTH front wheels. I don't care about that. Not sure what we did will stay together when that happens.

Why does he look so much like a blacksmith and so little like a car builder?

Blacksmith? It's cold and flu season - maybe he's feeling a little hoarse? Like this guy..

Karl, as long as the build it's done yet, how about all wheel drive?
Your photo reminds me of Gipetto and his wooden boy.

Welding, grinding, welding, grinding, welding, grinding. I know, a good welder doesn't need to grind, but I never proclaimed to be a good welder. Usually looks better than pigeon poop, usually.

I noticed your gages are not in the original "Shelby Cobra" position. Won't that upset all the guys that want their cars to look exactly alike? You are putting a Subaru engine in. How much power?

but would you buy a car from this guy?

The word on the street is there are several guys participating in this build, all fine upstandin gents n' all, but all with different ideas of how the car should be built, thus, the re, re, re, re fabrication comment. Further, rumors have it when this car is finally finished, it will be faster than a speedin bullit and won't need roads. Being the case I would like to propose that DWRAT take it out for its first spin so we can all see him have his DWRAT moment.

Please excuse my attempt at levity. I could no resist.

There is no doubt in my mind when the car is built it will be a gem. Cheers, John, AKA, tin-man

Mikiec, care to share a comment......does this guy fiddle?

Just my two cents. John AKA, tin-man
