Hi SDR,

9' 3" and I had a garage door specialist come in and change the track to run up against the ceiling, that gave me 2+ feet of additional clearance when the door is up so that I could keep the door open when I was working under the car with the door open and the a car raised.

I am 5'9" and can stand under the car with the door open and the car lifted. I also have a air compressor in the left corner and an air donut lift for when I want to work on the wheels.

The Back yard buddie has a center section that allows for loads to lift the car when you want to to suspension/wheel work. I also have the wheels that allow you to roll the lift around, take a look at the BB web site.

I have a four post and I have moved it once or twice in three years. I would see no need to cut out the floor for the post. My floor is finished with U-Coat-It and since my floor has a major tapper to it for a floor drain the lift will scratch the floor in a few places when moving it. I'm only telling you that so you know if you move your lift you could scratch your tiles.

BTW When we built the house we had the garage built with 11' ceiling as I knew I would be adding a lift. IF the Cobra is on top I have lots of room under it to work.

I have had it for a week so far. I have 10 foot ceilings. I have no problem being able to get under the cobra. Putting my truck on the lift I can't stand up under it. It is a bit tight trying to raise up my truck and fit the cobra underneath but it clears with a couple of inches to spare. I could use an extra foot. I installed in right on top of the floor. Manufacturer stated less than 2% get bolted down and even on the tile it doesn't slide at all. Between the lift being 1600 lbs and a 2-3K pound car it ain't going anywhere. Swiss Trax (and Race Deck I am sure) is rated for something like 30000 pounds so I am not worried about the weight.

Hi 4910....

Good for you, did you have an issue with the garage door interferring when it is open. They typically install them with legs extending from the ceiling and it wastes space that could be better used by running the door up higher against the ceiling.

Any pics ????????
