Hey Tinner, about the only good thing that I can think of about not having my car to drive is that I can knock back a few, when I'm just a passenger in one of my buddy's Cobra.

Jake's Corner still makes a kick ass hamburger.. The weather was great.. the drive was great.. I hope no one got caught be the sneaky HP on the way home.. The company was exceptionally good.. Even Mikie was well behaved.. for Mikie anyway..

Great day, great run. 10 cobras. Dan took us on a 100mph trip. Cool. I slowed down so he could lead. Great lunch, great people. My passenger is in fetal position. May come out of it by Monday.

Very nice ride today and what was great was not getting nailed not just by one, but by two HP units, about a half mile apart. Dan, maybe one of them was so sneaky that you didn't see him. But sure as sh!t, there were two of them.

Ralph, I agree. I should have been pinched by both but no go. What's up? Youre burning rage must have scared them.
I think the first car was empty when I went by at 85 and by the second car I was down to 72mph or so but all other traffic was the same.

I think Hector might have dropped down to 85 when we passed the first officer and the second was already doing business with a MC. Don't know why Hector wasn't issued a "good driving award" but I'm glad he wasn't. Would have ruined a perfectly nice day where the only downfall was sitting at the same table as Danr and seeing his eating skills.

I was following DanR at about 80+ when we spotted the first cop in the median. It looked like he started to pull out, then stopped. I think he saw the Cobras and decided to give us a pass.

It sounds like most of you had a great run (except for some tickets along the way!) I realized that I was asking for a ride and you guys don't even know me. Kind of rude on my part! Sorry. Let me introduce myself:

I did meet Dan on the 4th of July a few years ago. He participated in a neighborhood parade we had in San Diego every year. I think we had 14 Cobras that year and 2 were from Arizona!

In any case, I told Dan if I ever was in AZ I would see if I could meet up with you guys for some road fun. He sounded receptive to the idea. Little did I know that I would pull up stakes and move to Gilbert! I came here to try to retire, live near my kids and grandson, and get away from all the crazy politics/taxes/goofiness of California.

What I did wrong was to sell my Backdraft before I left CA. I thought an all black car would not be a smart to have in the desert climate. Now, I realized I was wrong. I have got the fever again and may be looking for a car soon. What I could use is a ride or two just to keep the fever alive! So, perhaps if you guys don't mind, I would like to at least meet up with you when you rendevous on one of your next runs (even if I don't end up as a passenger) just to say hello, meet you guys, and see your cars. Let me know if that is OK?

Thanks,

Skip B

Of course it's ok. There is usually an empty seat or two.

Skip, welcome. Don't know how the group was in SD, but we desert rats might be just a little different. We actually like people, even Tucson John and Danr and the occasional farm animal. Keep an eye on this site to see what's happening. Be aware, not only will there be some empty seats, there will also be some empty heads....

Thought I mentioned to everyone they are always hiding on 188 in the trees or get you at the 45 coming out of 55 up on 87 going west.

After leaving the boat I noticed two SUV Cops stopping several right around the junction of 188and & 87. Of course I never speed so no worries.

Food was good. Weather was great.

Ralphie, two fo them? Caught twice or two at the same time? Did Chuck get jealous?

I saw them. I slowed down coming down the mountain and passed the first one at about 72. The second one had someone pulled over about 1/2 mile up the road when we went through. There are three crossover's along that route and the HP are always in there on the weekends.. We didn't get caught on the way up, because I slowed down as we passed each one. They were there on the way up also. I'm surprised no one saw them.

I waved at them and they waved back. Also, was doing the speed limit both times. Now had they been there when we were going up the hill we all would be in jail.

They were there when we went up the hill. Didn't anyone else see them? I'm surprised.. I slowed down at all three places where they hang out, up hill and down hill. You mean that the rest of you were speeding? Say it isn't so..

Hmm...we went 49.3 miles in 40 minutes. That is an average speed of 73 mph.. that does not exceed the max allowable speed limit for Arizona.
