Steve, is that 289 local?
Mike |
Mike - sorry about that - yes that is a local car , there are at least 12 CSX 2000 cars here and I know of 3 CSX3000 cars. You almost never see these things and then you will run across two or three. There was a red 289 real car there yesterday and some pretty nice kits/replicas/recreations/fakes..
There was also a pretty nifty 1959 Testarossa from the Gauthier collection which they drove up the 101 to the event. Pretty courageous with a car that has a value of about $25 millions or so. The car that Gerhard "Ham" Berger won the GP of Italy at Monza in 1989 was there too. A very spiffy event indeed. You know it is a super show when a Veyron is sort of "ok that's nice but are there any really cool cars?" You should come to the Scottsdale cars and coffee next week, who knows what may show up over there at Gainey Ranch around 8 am.. |
There were at least 12 CSX1000 series cars there? I find that hard to believe!
|
Where exactly is the Gainey Ranch Cars and Coffee? and what time is it?
Thanks, Steve |

I just e-mailed Gary Patterson at Shelby American and got his return e-mail stating that there were only 19 CSX1000 series Cobras sold worldwide. The chances of 12 being in one place at one time are extremely unlikely. Are you SURE they were all 1000 series and not 4000 series? |

I do not consider either the 1000 or 4000 cars to be real Cobras any more than a Factory Five, Kirkham or Superformance although all are nice replicas.. Neither do the people who own 2000 and 3000 cars, just ask them. I have been around this block before and I do not care to re-visit this dead horse - you have my opinion and that of virtually all of the guys who own the cars made in the 60's. Be happy, I am sure your cars are really nice. |
Not wound up at all, Mulv. I just knew that more than likely, you didn't see 12 CSX1000 series cars at once. And it really doesn't make any difference at all, does it? I guess you are right about 1000 & 4000 series Cobras not being real Cobras. Oh wait, don't they have CSX numbers and Shelby American stamped on them? Then who built them? I know where you are coming from...just yanking your chain! That subject will never die, will it? OF COURSE 2,3000 series owners think that way, duh! And thank you for the kind comment. Done!
