2011 Route 66 Fun Run
It’s time once again for the infamous Route 66 Fun Run. http://www.azrt66.com/funrun.htm This will be my 10th year (Mike & Ginny have 11). We will meet at the Chevron Station just east of the I-17 on Carefree Hwy on Friday, April 29th about 11 or 11:30am with departure at noon. This is a good place to fuel up and pickup snacks, drinks and food.
We will head north on I-17 to the Route 69 exit toward Prescott. We bypass Prescott via Fain Road to Route 89 and on to a pit stop in Chino Valley at the Safeway Fuel/Kentucky Fried Chicken parking lot. Next, north to the I-40 at Ashfork. I-40 west to Seligman to pickup our Fun Run Packets and eat at Sno Cap (tradition).
Then on Route 66 all the way to Kingman’s Travel Lodge http://mapq.st/eHduJY where our club has an entire separate building in the rear reserved so we can behave irresponsibly.
Friday nights in the past we have all eaten at the Dambar in Kingman http://mapq.st/haMv4f but, we are working on alternates.
Saturday morning, those who with will drive back to Seligman via I-40 for the official Fun Run. If you haven’t been on it you should. There are many place to stop and visit, sight see etc.
For those who wish you can drive downtown Kingman and park your car for the day at the car show. We all end up there sometime Saturday. Some later after the Fun Run. Car show breakup is 3 or 4pm.
Saturday night is spent in the motel parking lot with drinking and pizza and mayhem. The Pizza Hut is right across the street from the parking lot.
On Sunday the normal Fun Run proceeds on through Oatman (a quaint western mining town filled with gift shops, restaurants and donkeys.) Then on to the finish line in Topock. Not much to see there, but then you can say you finished. Return from there is back through Kingman, Rte 93 via Wikieup, Wickenburg and home.
Alternately you are all invited to Jay and Trish Steinbarger’s home for breakfast on Sunday. Jay lives uphill in Kingman in a beautiful home full of good food.
First Leg to Chino Valley: http://mapq.st/fg8REP
Second Leg to Seligman: http://mapq.st/gn2dOv
Third Leg to Motel: http://mapq.st/howrPo
Whole trip going: http://mapq.st/ed7X4w
Return from Kingman to Wickenburg on Sunday: http://mapq.st/e39TXa
See you all on Friday, April 29
AZ Bob

I think I remember on a rte. 66 run a couple years ago eating there and one of the ladies opposite the table from me was saying she felt under the weather and hoped she didn't have a fever when suddenly a laser dot appeared on her forehead and one of the guys with a pyrometer said, "No fever." Hah! (the gal felt fine later BTW), only an az cobra guy would carry a laser pyrometer to dinner.

Time for annual "hottest butt" competition.
I'll bring my pyrometer. No sitting on the heater.

Does "swamp butt" count? Maybe all the evaporation of the butt-crack sweat would cool the ambient temps.

Is that part of an Arizona courtship ritual, I can see how it would save a lot of time and expense?

Tinner, it's not ritual but it is a good idea toprevent waisting time. It's like looking at a horses teeth. Not necessary, but a good idea anyway.

Well Bob, at least I had the "Plastectomy" operation which placed a pane of clear plastic in my belly, so I can see, while my head is up my A+++rse. Most people don't bother and just wander around blindly.

but then agin' he may have a point. Anyone's who can walk around with their HUTA and a glass plate in their gut is worthy of attack.
However, if what you say is true, then I want to be your agent and we'll make millions, First we start out with the Ed Sullivan show and then maybe will do, well I Guess Captin Kangaroo for da kids. Ooops, strike that, better fast forward to the Oprah W show.
Danr, swear to all that's holy, no booze, I bin on the wagon for over ten years now, never buys the stuff anymore, jus' makes it meselfs outa fermented veggies. The 2007 distilled cabbage brew is awesome, but it has side effects......Sorry guys, its bin a long day an my diction and elocution gets somewhat frazzled as the evening grows late.
See. y'all soon.
