Now its time to bring that big Ford to the drag strip... Let's see what it'll really do?

Hmm.. When do you wind it up? You don't know what it's going to do until you wind it tight..

Sandy, I can see you're not hooked up in 1st gear. Common with big blocks. Get used to it so you can predict it. Then the fun is even greater.

Yeah, I know. I'm having trouble getting this wheel spin thing down. And on top of that I have a wheel hop issue during burnouts that I gotta figure out -- it makes burnouts feel violent, like I'm gonna break something. I need to figure out what's going on so I can get those smooth burnouts like Mikie.
Dan gave me a suggestion on a suspension mod I may look into, but it makes me nervous to mess with the suspension for fear of causing handling problems in other phases of driving. Suspension setup is kind of an art I think.

Talk to Charlie about a Watt's Link. He'll fill you in.

Sandy, I used to have wheel hop but since I turned the shocks harder it went away. I also have a BIG sway bar on the rear. Just an idea you can try with the shocks.

Sandy,
I think you are running an independent rear suspension with upper and lower control arms. Don't remember for sure.
With an IRS, a firmer shock or, in the case of an adjustable shock, a firmer valve setting would likely help. If the bushings in the control arms are too soft, consider a more solid type, such as high load bearing urethane vs rubber. Sometimes the bushings used to hold the differential in are too soft too. It is also possible you could have a soft bushing that has split.
Check out your shocks first and see if the have adjustment knobs first and start there. You could try jacking more spring into it like Bob B suggests. If the ride height isn't tolerable you could replace it with a stiffer spring.
You could also try not doing any burnouts ala Don.
