No sir, it has not been fixed yet. I am waiting for Roush and Bowler to agree what the fix needs to be. There is a high idle that's for sure and it creates a grabbing action when moving from park thru reverse thru to neutral and then into drive. I'm hoping within the next six months they can come up with a solution. I'll be back in the States in December. There's not too much I can do from China except keep talking with the people at Roush and Bowler.

There is no doubt in my mind they will find a solution since this "experience" of the Roush/Bowler engine tranny combo in a Cobra in not what they want to hear. Particularly if they want to sell any more products to the Cobra guys.

John,

Hello John,
From the back n forth between you & (Dwrat / Dan) combined with my last info that a loose screw was found in the distributor enabling her to drive off the trailer lead me to think she was all but done. That is why I was joking with you and not giving ya grief. So I will just move on with no poking at you on the car... maybe on something else, not able too go full cold turkey.

I hope you do store her at Dwrat's place as that is only a mile or so away from me and I could a help make sure he never exceeds 30 MPH or some number kinda close to that!. I am of course willing to make sure he stays away from any installs or ummm adjustments !
Yep I think you should store her at the Rats. PS... Look for a pm

Now remember Tinner, according the some peoples interpretation, 130 MPH is only 1 away from 30 MPH.

John,

Short of being able reduce the idle, they should be able to reduce the pump pressure at idle with their electronic controller, at least one would think so.

John,

Roush/Bowler engine tranny combo
My two cents worth,
Most of the Cobra buyers, buy a Cobra because of the 65 nostalgia, Big Block, Holley, MSD Ignition System, Manual Transmission, Tremec 5 speed, 5th gear as overdrive.
Plain engine and carburetor, no emission controls, a pure environmental polluter.
They can tinker with the Holley, idle speed, fuel/air ratio, change jets and timing with MSD distributer ect.
I had two SPF’s, SPF 746 with a Big Block and Tremec and SPF 2180 with a Roush 427 and AOD auto transmission.
I ripped out the AOD auto transmission and replaced it with a Tremec 5 speed. Reason, one time I put in drive, but it was in reverse, linkage failure, and I almost backed into a wall.
The more automation software from third parties you have on these cars the less you can tinker with
them, because is all proprietary. To get anything done, you have to take the car to a speed shop,
authorized by these third parties and bring Fat Wallet.
Resale value of a Cobra with Auto Transmission less then with a Manual Transmission.
On my SPF 2180 I had a rim that was out round, the rims were third party from Hillbank,
The agony and cost that were occurred, which I had to pay, before this issue was resolved all
because a third party was involved and Hillbank dropped them as a supplier.
I hope, John your issues will be resoved.

Dan, now would DWRAT do that after promising not to, hate it when people do that, but, I must take him at his word of which I am waiting to hear back.

Yoo-hoo, DWRAT do we have a deal?

You treat my car as you would your wifey BUT if I hear otherwise well, I treat your wifey as I would my Cobra, if it worked, well you know, you get the drift.

Think long and hard and remember the tee shirt acronym DFWM or err, my Cobra.

cobish, thanks for this and I thank all the club members for their support. The lighthearted banter we have does help to keep the angst under control and softens the blow of not having my car sitting in my garage waiting for me to return. I am confident Roush and Bowler will come up with a satifactory fix and resolve this issue to my satisfaction. Err, yep, that's my expectation, to my satisfaction and to support the value of money I invested in their products.

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, now that's not nice. but I suppose we could start a pole as see if this car will ever get fixed and pass it on to happy jack. But in all fairness to the engineers at Roush and Bowler I should give them some time to figure out the fix. Sounds reasonable given there is not too much I can do about it while I am here in China.

Did I say pole, well maybe it was a just a Freudian slip. tin-man

You have the luxury of time but dont cut them too much slack. The rest of us have enough bad history to know whatever time they tell you they need to fix it add 3 months. I remember having this conversation about the delivery time as well since Roush has yet to deliver one of the 511's on time installed and running correctly in the car. Personally whatever time you expect to be back give them a date 2 months previous and maybe you will have the car when you get here. Not what you want to hear but Sandy, Tim and I can relate and honestly say we have been there. I keep hoping for everyone elses sake that bought one after us they will change but I havent seen it yet.

Speaking of waiting for a car, my new fuel tank arrived yesterday and Charlie started installing so hopefully I will get mine back on the road next week

Oh my, nobody ever told me about THIS ONE, Mikiec lost control, no, scratch that, Mikiec lost total control, nawww, never happen particularly after all the talking about cars n' drivin' I heard these guys opinin' on when we met for the fist time at the Safeway parking lot. This occurrence was never mentioned. Stained shorts, stinky seats, wow, this I gotta hear, how, pray tell, did this happen to our fine upstandin Prez? Was he drunk, lookin at some chick or just had an inexplicable brain fart and momentarily lost control, yeah, that's gotta be it, he had a momentary brain fart.? Do tell DWRAT, do tell.

Mikiec, seems Ratboy is pickin' on yer drivin' skills so bein' President n'all you gonna let this slight go unanswered,. Is this a sign of mutiny?

Tinny,
It's not Mikies driving skills it's his parking skills.
When we had our burn out contest Mikie though all cobras had the same power as his cobra and he felt he parked in a safe area to watch others do there burn outs.
Needless to say when my car was doing it's own thing and heading right at him, all I could see was on Mikies face.
Shortly after that I think he went to his room for a wardrobe change.

OK, so the truth will out huh? The guys told me about you doin' your burn outs and the screaming when you realized you wuz outa control and that you chit yo pants reaaaaal good. DWRAT you da man you are a word smith and the way you spun your comments led me to believe Mikiec was outa control at 30mph, what you failed to mention and I suppose it was to create the high drama effect was that Mikiec was parked and indeed was not moving. Now that's slick. Create the visuals without definitively stating the real conditions. yep, that's slick alright, congratulations. Bet your wifey taught you that, right?.

So what you was originally sayin' was decidedly in the vein of a spurious attack on our dear leaders driving skills, his precise parking techniques and you was trashing his bodily fluid retention abilities, big time. Now that's sad, what did that dear fine upstandin' gent ever do to you to create such a dastardly act of malicious mischief on his character and person?

Mikiec, wow, this sounds like you have all the makings of a preconceived mutiny in its early stages. You did say the December was the Clubs anniversary, so will there be elections and being the case it would seem Ratboy is laying the groundwork for a well thought out and preplanned run for your office.

Be careful and watch out for speedin' Beamers n' guys wantin' to see you do burnouts..

Nobody else?? I didn't know that Mikie wanted it. He just can't find anyone to stick with it.. If Ratboy had better control of his functions, he might have been a stuckee.. but alas.. that failed.

Mikie needs to find some new guy, maybe someone new to Phoenix, who isnt' familiar with all of the ins and outs of the job. Someone who maybe has his first Cobra and may be naive enough to believe that everything is fine. Someone like..?? Uh.. Hell, I may have said too much already.

I was told I had the job for life... I figure I did something very wrong in an earlier life and this is my punishment.

Tinny, I am out of control all the time.

RatBoy, My parking position would heve been safe from an out of control full blown dragster... just not from you.

OK so there is no mutiny, phew that's good, I don't like see fine upstandin' gents get involved with cat fights or foot stopmpin' or tizzy fits. I kinda like the notion tho' its all or nuthin' on the burnouts. Does Danr participate in burnouts or is his Orange colored Chebby, scratch that, Chebby Orange Cobra too good to do burnouts.

Yo Danr, you callin' me naiveté?
