In the "old days" when I was running a 426 street wedge Plymouth that weighed in well over 3500 pounds or a Mustang 289 with little low end torque, powershifting was indeed faster. Kept the engine revs up.

Never powershifted with CSX3159. Didn't need to. Although it was a former drag race car and had a top loader and Hurst shifter, I really didn't trust the hydraulic clutch linkage. I didn't want to take a chance missing a gear with a 427 at full song.

Don't plan to with the Superformance, either. With the big block, I've inadvertently start out in third. Felt stupid, but no muss, no fuss, just pulls away. No question of having the torque or keeping the revs up.

Those old 7.80 x 14 tires on that big Mopar must have been really sticky.

LOL Actually, when I was racing it, they were probably L-60's. And it was a 365 hp hyd lifter street wedge. You had to "walk" it off the line very carefully. Once launched, traction wasn't a real problem.

Tinner, what ever you think it fair. A shot is a shot. Just as long as I get to watch the first time you let him drive your car.

Hey Mikie, Have you ever known anyone else with more posts on the board than miles in the driver's seat?

Default Speed shifting

In my case I have trouble too with the 2-3 shift but in my case it is the B&M shifter kit. It out of wack on adjustment and of course I have no instruction book + they don't make this shift kit anymore. All I could do was use some common sense on the throw adjustments and limiters. It's better but not perfect. Hurst would have been a better choice. Anyone with expertise on this kit let me know...otherwise it's fun to shift. BBryan

I, would give up the quick take off speed for a shifter 3-4 or 5 speed, auto trans takes a lot of the fun out off driving the car.I know all it takes is money.

Sandy, sounds great but do you really think Karl could handle those eco-feminists? tin-man

Dan that was low, you know perfectly well that I cannot drive my Cobra on account its being fixed, plus I am here in China, but when its fixed and I am retired I'll put more miles on that sucker than you can count. OK put another way, the several posts are in lieu of driving, I is assimilatin' deep huh? John,

Thank you Dimis for your support and understanding, obviously you are one fine upstandin' gent, from Melbourne. Post pics of your build so we can all oooo and ahhhhh.

What several of the Arizona Cobra's membership seem to forget is we are all enthusiastic for the brand and spend as much time as we can either dreamin', talkin', or fixin' our rides. Dan is no exception, I am betting his Orange Chebby has spent more time in his garage being "fixed" than on the road.

DWRAT, did I get that right?

Cheers, tin-man

Tinner, That's one bet you'd loose. Last year at this time, you may have won, but last winter was excellent for putting mileage on the chebby "Rangoon" orange roadster. Nope. You'd loose that bet this year.....unless I decide to make an adjustment or two. I'm still thinking about it. Hmm...???427...428?? Curious decision.

Tinny,
Danr55's car seems to be a pretty reliable ride but so is my 125 HP Toyota Tacoma.
I think with power comes problems.

Wait a minute, I was following your lead, did you set me up, didn't you say, well, as I recall, his Rangoon Lollypop Red or Chebby Orange to most other folks, was always being adjusted and I am using kind words here? If I erred then me bad and I will be forced to doff my hat when I finally meet Dan.

As to your second comment with power comes problems I hear ya pal, yo' wife has de power and drives a beamer and youze is drivin' a Toyota, oh the shame of it, she done got you by the nuts big time and that's the problem, yep, ya got that right, "with power comes problems," I guess it just boils down to just whoooz got da power huh?. tin-man

Not if he was smart. If we would of been educated (or smarter, however you want to call it) We would of called Keith Craft for a motor. In my case, John at Anthem was quite a saleman and I hadn't found this forum yet to ask the right questions. Live and Learn.
