Oh, what a relief it is! We were having a knocking noise after pulling off the muffler shop lift but couldn't determine what was going on. Sounded "hollow" and I was afraid it was something getting hammered by a piston. Anyway, found that the oil pan had been crunched, just a bit, and was hitting the first throw on the crank. Pulled the pan, hammered it out, changed the oil, filter, and pan gasket, and whoopee, no more knocking. Think I might have whacked the oil pan when I went off roading, and then just bumped it enough coming off the lift to make contact. Mesa Mike was able to feel the contact on the pan and was exactly correct on the location of the oops. Our lucky day!
