Heading to SEMA
Driving to Las Vegas Tuesday to attend SEMA. One of my bucket list items. Second one this year! Other was the Coronado Trail in the cobra. Meeting up with Bill Bryan (Gofastoldguy). We are sharing a room at the Imperial Palace. At least for one night until Bill gets snored out. Also meeting up with John Yore (Skully) and other cobra dudes.
Can't wait to drive over the new Hoover Dam bypass bridge. Be back late on Friday and see you local guys on Saturday night. By the way, there is a Glendale swap meet on Sunday morning. AZ Bob |
Heading over Wed, then hitting the Optima Challenge at Spring Mtn on the way back to San Diego!!!
|
It has always been on my bucket list as well but thought you had to be in the biusiness to get in. Can anyone go or do you just have to be with someone in the auto business to get in? If I can get in then count me in for next year for sure! Take lots of pics and bring back

Varmit, that would be really cool to see too. I'll have to put that on a future list. The Mrs. is having tongue surgery Friday morning so I have to return by Friday evening. LOL Kids are watching her until then.
Ron, Bill and Jeff can get tickets ($25) whenever you want. I got mine this year from Bill. Both have auto businesses that qualify. AZ Bob |

But like I said, it's no laughing matter and I wish your wife all the best for a speedy recovery! By the way, if it's successful, can I have the name of her surgeon? ( I told you there is a lot of material to work with! :p ) Ralph |
Sandy has had a scar on the side of her tongue ever since she needed intubation back in Oct of 2009 when her heart stopped in the emergency room. We think it is just scar tissue but she keeps biting it. We will joke after the surgery and her biopsy results show negative. Then....watch out. At least she can't yell at me. For a while. You are right about there being lots of material there.

Youse guys going to SEMA be sure to take very comfortable shoes because the show is huge! I'd also suggest being well stocked with Advil or Aleve or something similar to help out with being on your feet for very long days.
Definitely worth seeing. Mesa Mike and I went a couple years ago and had a great time. |
Bob, Are you providing ear plugs for you roommate or is he bringing his own? Or does he know about the secret? Have fun and take lots of pictures.

When at SEMA, check out the Jeep that a buddy of mine built. I'm not sure where it is located, but it should be pretty easy to find....40" tires and VERY red! He really did a nice job with suspension, frame alteration, hemi engine, etc,etc.....
|
JMC, there were only a couple hundred Jeeps with HUGE tires. I'm sure we saw it.
AZ Bob |
Well, one thing I learned is that Bill Bryan can outeat, outsleep and outjoke me. We walked a long way every day. Bill only stopped at every person he saw to joke. The only thing I can do better is snore.
It was a great time. AZ Bob |
Had a great time, picked out my 8 stack system and got a good education on the sysytem!!!!!
|
How about that custom Roadrunner in front of the Ford display, 10,000 hours of labor, and a billet grill that weighed 63 lbs., and a billet firewall, that took 7 days on a c&c machine.
|
Hey John. It was certainly nice to see you at SEMA and AAPEX (I wouldn't bother with AAPEX next time). I forgot how funny you are. Like a breath of fresh air funny. You should get a straight man and a drummer and enter vaudeville.
AZ Bob |
Thanks Bob, same with me the APEX is ok but Sema is awesome. Thought that I had everything, wrong. Good to see you and Bill, I think we walked about 50 miles in the 3 days. Every time we thought we saw it all there was more cars, if that wasn't all there was a Porn star show , just like Oscars , what a country!

Let me tell you all that I had the greatest roomate for the SEMA show. Bob snored at exactly 0400 for two nights and I threw two magazines at him both times, yelled "Bob, time to roll over" and it was peaceful the rest of the time. The stories of his snoring are greatly exaggerated (paraphrased). Yes I did eat a lot of buffet, expecially the Prime Rib. It was the best I ever had...bar none. When I get into these social situations I usually make some kind of impression on them...hopefully with a joke or two. Thanks again Bob and I'll take you for a roomy anytime!!
Best regards, Bill Bryan |
