Called to Task
I have been called to task for failure to follow through with a promise. I've been promising to take Adriana to Tortilla Flats for a couple of months. Well, she called me on it so Sunday, Feb. 5 we are going to Tortilla Flats. I believe if we leave from the Chevron Station at Idaho Rd and I 60 around 10:30 AM we can have lunch and be back in time for Super Bowl festivities with no problem. Anyone want to go along?

Hope you have better luck this time. Wasn't that where you were going when your tie rod broke? (You should take Adriana out to the Marina at Saguaro Lake. Much better food and the view is excellent.) Also, had a thought about that nasty Cobra wreck that's been going around, on line. Wondered if the car had been a Contempory with the same faulty engineered tie rod issue? The car seemed to just suddenly make a hard turn, at high speed.

Karl, What wreck are you talking about? I haven't seen it.
I'm not sure you can classify what happened to my car as faulty engineering. That wheel was subjected to severe vibration due to a bad wheel and bad adjustment of the steering mechanism. I don't know how many miles were put on the car with the front end vibrations that I experienced. In any event, the other Contemporary went for many miles with no vibration and no issue. I did have an analysis done on the broken end and the preliminary finding was metal fatigue. That is usually the result of stress and vibration.

I better quit if all that stress and vibration will break it.

The car was a Backdraft Cobra...A rear suspension arm/or bolt had failed at 130 MPH and caused the spin...When he hit the deep gravel at the track, which was at the end of a turn she flip like nine times..Complete 360's but landed upright..And the roll bar never touched the ground!!! The driver used up all of his luck on that accident and is very lucky to be alive..

Imagine that. Someone spent $250 for a bunch of used fiberglass. Amazing what people will buy.

I sold my gently used body for $900 to a guy that drove over from Albuquerque. He'd offered to pay $1000, but I let him talk me down after such a long drive. I was glad to get anything out of it, but I guess if you can work with fiberglass, about anything is fixable.

Dave, I've not heard a word from anyone about going. I want to go early enough so we can get back in time for the SuperBowl.
