AZ Cobras and Hospice
Well I just got back. 31 Cobras showed up. The media was there. For you AZ gang channel 15 and 12 at 4 pm tonight. Channel 3 in the AM.
I'm sure there will be pic galore posted. Lots of rides for patients, family and staff. I wish I had remembered to get the news crew rides, but they were gone by the time I came back from my 3 rd. one. I had the honor of escorting the patient who started all this. She told me all she has heard for the past 35 years was.. cobra this, cobra that. Russ brought a beautiful CSX4000 car for the husbands ride. I spoke with the husband later and he told be he worked near Shelby's place in California and saw the cars zoom by daily. Said he even got a tour of the manufacturing facility. He has been drooling cobras for years after. More later. Mike |
Was talking with the guy from ch 3 and he said 5:00 but could be 5:30 and 9:00 and in the morning. ch 15 would be 5:00 or 5:30. Didn't see the guy from ch 12.

This photo taken after their Cobra rides is what it's all about. Kathleen said her journey with cancer has had many downs, but this was an UP! She said this was her last chance to see the joy in her husband's face when he finally got to ride in a Cobra. Here she is in hospice thinking only of her husband, wow. It warms the heart to see smiles like this under the circumstances.
She shared this with the media so I can say she is in the final stages of her journey with cancer and her husband has recently also been diagnosed with cancer. These folks are a real inspiration with their positive attitude, they just seem to be wonderful people who are deeply in love with each other. http://sancornel.com/images/couple.jpg |

This is the moment when Kathleen and Dayton came outside and saw all the Cobras there for them for the first time. Kathleen cried happy tears.

The look on their faces says it all. You guys did a wonderful thing God Bless you all for giving these people a few moments to forget about their situation, and having some simple moments of joy. A lesson to us all. Take each day as a precious gift, and when you can spend that day helping someone else out, all the better.
