Well, it's official. She is now a charter member.

That's one of the most severe ones I have seen.

Yikes! After doing that to myself, I elected to get heat shields before my wife did that to herself. Whenever we get out, we both say, "Pipes". So far, no more Snake Bites.

Get some silver sulfadiazine Cream or silvadene on that as soon as possible. The Brand name is RX only but I would think an across the counter version is available. It works wonders, takes the pain away and speeds healing. Maybe a call to you family Doc would get a fax script to help her out.

Neosporin + Pain OINTMENT and cover with bandage. Change twice a day until scabbed, then daily until healed.
Neosporin: First Aid Products

Been there 4 times so far.

My remedy for the infamous snake bite.... Do not get bitten. Using that philosophy I am scar free. Now Ginny is another story.

Well guys, this is a week old and already scabbed over. I have heat shields on the pipes, but there is this 6 inch section aft of the heat sink that seems to have gotten her. I throw this out as a caution to the newbies.. (my snakebite healed several years ago!) and it only takes once.

Maybe it only took once for you, Dan, but I forget easy!
As anyone knows who's been bitten, these burns seem like forever to heal and hurt like a mofo!

It should almost be mandatory for each of us to carry a small burn kit in our cars, the quicker you apply the ointments mentioned above, the faster the pain stops and the quicker it heals.

I carry one on long trips. Perhaps you are right, it should be present on short trips also.

Exclamation

The only solution is a 2 hour safety course, with films & 8X10 glossey photo's of prior snake bites! Oh! and amputation of the stricken part!

Or undercar exhaust!

My ten year old nephew got one yesterday- I warned him, but hey what can you do? When I told him 'you got a snakebite' he was chuffed, and is looking forward to showing his school friends
Sorry, couldn't bring myself to photographing it!

I've always had under-car exhausts so I really have to watch myself when I get out of someone else's Cobra.
