Route 66 2012 caravan.
I am copying this from last year.
We will meet at the Chevron Station just east of the I-17 on Carefree Hwy on Friday, May 4th about 11 or 11:30am with departure at noon. This is a good place to fuel up and pickup snacks, drinks and food.
We will head north on I-17 to the Route 69 exit toward Prescott. We bypass Prescott via Fain Road to Route 89 and on to a pit stop in Chino Valley at the Safeway Fuel/Kentucky Fried Chicken parking lot. Next, north to the I-40 at Ashfork. I-40 west to Seligman to pickup our Fun Run Packets and eat at Sno Cap (tradition).
Then on Route 66 all the way to Kingman’s Travel Lodge MapQuest Maps - Driving Directions - Map where our club has an entire separate building in the rear reserved so we can behave irresponsibly.
Friday nights in the past we have all eaten at the Dambar in Kingman MapQuest Maps - Driving Directions - Map but, we are working on alternates.
Saturday morning, those who wish will drive back to Seligman via I-40 for the official Fun Run. If you haven’t been on it you should. There are many place to stop and visit, sight see etc.
For those who wish you can drive downtown Kingman and park your car for the day at the car show. We all end up there sometime Saturday. Some later after the Fun Run. Car show breakup is 3 or 4pm.
Saturday night is spent in the motel parking lot with drinking and pizza and mayhem. The Pizza Hut is right across the street from the parking lot.
On Sunday the normal Fun Run proceeds on through Oatman (a quaint western mining town filled with gift shops, restaurants and donkeys.) Then on to the finish line in Topock. Not much to see there, but then you can say you finished. Return from there is back through Kingman, Rte 93 via Wikieup, Wickenburg and home.
I will be leaving work at 3PM. Meet you guys in Kingman.
Mike

Thanks Mike. Welcome back. I was wondering if anyone wanted to leave earlier than noon. I do not want tobe blamed the entire weekend for any number of reasons if we left earlier from the same starting point. Taking the day off and do not want to hang around in town just in case.

Gary, Let me check with Adriana. She has the same kind of concern that you do. I'll let you know.

Except we're not going to Prescott. We're going to Chino Valley. We can run on to Seligman and meet everyone at Snow Cap. Adriana says she'd like to get out of the valley before the heat of the day so we'll meet you at 10:00 at the Chevron on Carefree Hwy and I 17.

Gary & Dan:
Judy and I would also like to leave early, and if you two don't object we will join you for a 1000 rendezvous at the Chevron on 17.

Dan, Dave, I would like to join you for a 10am departure from the Chevron. Good idea. About 65 miles to Fain Rd, 30 to Safeway, 35 to I-40, 25 to Seligman. Should be there about 1:30, lunch then about 70 to Kingman ETA about 4pm. Lots of drinking time left.

Works for me Robert. If you think you can keep up, com'on. Looks like that's four cars.
If anyone else plans on the 1000 hrs departure, let us know so we don't leave without you.

OK, since I have to wait for my navigator who works until 10am and will be ready a half hour later, we may go straight up to Chino and possibly catch up with ya'll there.
So far it looks like nobody is leaving at noon from the Chevron.

Hey,
I believe the noon time has been squashed.
I'm leaving work at 3PM. Should be passing by McDonalds in Wickenburg about 4:30-5PM.

Maybe if you go fast enough they won't see you. Try that and let us know how it works.
