Hey, I just pulled off the old pump again. Now back to scraping and installing a new pump. I have done it so many times I could do it blind folded.

This my pump, There are others like it.......

I have my sights set on Saturday. Not sure which one.

Hey Jeff, Mikie.. I see this name in the post above this one. I seem to recall from (has it already been) years ago that there was a guy who had something like a Cobra who used that name. Do you suppose it's the same guy? Wonder what ever happened to ol' what'shisname? Oh, Karl. That was his name. Do you suppose he got too old to drive a Cobra?

Karlos, You any closer to getting that Chebbie back on the road? I bet your pit crew is ready to see her on the road again. Hope you get all the bugs worked out.

Hey Jeff, My poor feeble brain is whirrling like a toad. I checked two plugs on the driver's side and they were suitably dark, which I expected from the idling in the garage. Then, I checked all the plugs on teh passenger side and they were all showing very lean. I checked the intake manifold bolts and they were all tight. Did the carb cleaner trick with the car running and there was no RPM increase. I increased all the jets three sizes, and the car seems to be running cooler now. Can't say for sure since the engine died a few miles into the ride. The fuel pressure showed zero, I opened the gas tank cap, started up and drove a couple more miles before the engine died again. Got started and limped home, so didn't really get enough miles on it to see how the plugs look. I got a new fuel pump last night, installed it today and will take a ride tomorrow morning to see how the critter acts. Hope I can put 20-30 miles on it and then I'll pull some plugs again. The jets were the same as I'd been running but perhaps the larger cam and header tube size leaned things out a bunch. I don't have an air/fuel gauge or oxygen sensors, so I'll have to try for a good mixture the old fashioned way, at least until I take it to a dyno some day.

Sounds like progress to me. You'll be ready to run the Devils' hwy with us this year.

Did you get your fuel pressure, or lack of it, resolved yet?

Nut-ster,

Found that the fuel filter, just before the regulator, was clogged. Cleaned the element and at least that problem is good to go. Afraid my braided lines might be degrading so I've ordered some new line so that will be yet another project.
