I like Pro Systems. Patrick built a Holley for me that lowered my quarter mile ET over half a second. Great driveability from idling in parades to the Big Bend Open Road Race and quarter mile drags in between. Patrick is easy to work with and can communicate with the novice as well as the professional.
Nothing against the others, I have not used any one else for the Gobra.

What if you already have a carb? Is there anyone that you can give your specs to and have him tune it?

We offer carb rebuilding and tuning services.
The difference in the Quick Fuel carbs that I sell is that they are not supplied out of the box. When you call AED or Pro Systems and ask for a carb, it's custom built. That's what we offer....a custom built Quick Fuel from parts. I've sent them to customers in high altitude, customers with oxygenated fuel, customers in France, Germany, Australia, you name it. Plus they go on all of the engines that leave my shop.
The Holley Ultra HP carbs are also very nice, but again, unless they are gone through by someone, they are really not a custom carb, but just another out of the box deal.
Most important aspect is that a carb is selected for the features and size that you need.

I use a holley 3310, 780CFM.
I use this one as I had two since the 80s and they are easy to find parts for, work on and set.
Just my $.02 worth.

Wait a minute. So (conservatively) say $4 / gallon and $60 would be 15 gallons. From London to Flint is something like 300 miles. So, you're getting close to 20mpg?

Bernica, 20MPG is easy to believe. Quite a few of the mini-motored Cobras around here claim to get well over that, even cruising at 70-80 MPH with their tall rear gears and OD trannies. My stump puller, on the other hand, doesn't do QUITE as well. I do my part to support my Chevron stock prices.

I might be able to make that putting along at about 115 mph. better mileage there than at 65.

So much for my "carbon footprint"!
Best I can tell, I'm around 6-10mpg. If I go romping around, it's way down there. The 42 gallon tank helps in getting from "point A" to "point B"

Karl,
How dare you refer to my 23 mph, 340 hp, XE3M, Ford crate race motor with a Holly 570 Street Avenger as a mini-motored Cobra. Actually, it sounds like my lawn motor cruising at 80 !

Running a Pro-Systems, I like it. Heard good things about AED and QuickFuel.

The folks at AED Performance | Racing Carburetors | Holley Carburetors are at the top of their game.
I tried Pro Systems. Patrick was a pleasure to deal with, but after 3 tries he was unable to build me a carb for my Roush 427R that met my requirements. I am very lucky to live about 15 minutes from AED. I drove over to their shop and spent about an hour on their chassis dyno while they custom built a carb for me on my car. The result was flawless. Instant off idle response. Nice nearly flat A/F ratio. Great HP and torque numbers. I couldn't be happier.

Therein lies the issue....
Lots of guys don't know much about carburetors or how to tune them. It's really not fair to compare a carb builder that took 3 opportunities to another who actually had the car on a chassis dyno for an hour.
Carbs are not perfect out of the box, and even custom, hand-built carbs will not be 100% perfect.

Agreed. Patrick was trying to tune the carb long distance. AED had the car on their dyno. I was thinking this at the time. None-the-less, the boys at AED know their stuff in spades.

Mail order carbs work, but the chances of being close to perfect are not as great as if someone has one on a dyno. The chance of getting a mail order carb close doesn't out weigh the chance of getting one too lean and damaging an engine, one 'oh ****' takes a lot of 'at a boys' to fix. It's been my impression a carb can be set up to cover a lot of different engines, but that same carb is also going to be 'close'. Works for some. I have a pro systems carb i'll sell someone cheap, still haven't figured out why they would put a restrictor in the main block for idle adjustment.
