Do that, and might as well go all out and get a nice Chevy tattoo. I hear all the cool guys have them!

Then get ready to park in the back.

Danr never wants to go very fast so I'm sure he would never go over to the dark side. Much safer to just stick with big Ford and keep his tools handy.

Attached is a link on how to do a leak down test and what the results mean as the results you posted above don't look very good.

Compression test should be close to 150 psi, leakage should be in the range of 10-20 percent. Your values were about 50 psi on compression and about 98 percent loss on the leakdown. If you meant 2 percent, that would be a rare event as really good engines leakdown more like 10.

If you take the values you presented as fact, then it would be highly advisable to tear the engine down as it is headed for a catastrophic fail costing you a lot more than earlier intervention.

Here is the link..........How to do Cylinder Leak Down Testing- Car Craft Magazine

Damn, you are being nice to Dan. I expected something more like 48 to 50 lbs sounds a little high for a truck motor.

Actually, it is a little low for even a truck motor. You know how sensitive Dan gets.

Right now, you couldn't hurt me with a wrench. Put everything back together and it runs great. If anything, it's quieter than before. Oh, and leak down test, was done exactly as described. I would have to guess that the gage used for the compression test was faulty,,but faulty the same in every cylinder. Runs strong and no unusual noise. I'm back to feeling very lucky.

Great news! Another amazing, indestructible, self-healing Ford! Go buy a Lotto ticket and keep that lucky streak going!

My guess is that's the quarter that Karl and Dan were flipping to see who paid for the next round of drinks. Now you know where it went.

Imagine that, a faulty compression tester guage and leak down tester all at the same time. Must be more Chinese crap.

Flow-through technology. You should do an updated ad for "takes a licking and keeps on ticking"!

you missing one of your air cleaner wing nuts?
or maybe a nut from the air horn stud?
i would be looking at the carb for the source......what ever it was it got sucked into the carb, or even put there by a-holes at a car show

You might want to look at the threaded boss on the carb where the air cleaner hold-down all-thread screws in. I have seen the boss split and break off before.

Whatever this is it is ferrous material. I've che led the carb and the attach hardware. Best I can figure is it was attache to the screen on the air filter and broke off.
