UPdate reporting from beautiful downtown Kilgore Texas: The block is in work, the pistons will be completed and deliverd on Monday, 4/14. Engine should be together and back to Charlie by 4/18 and I should be able to pick it up on 4.29 when I get back from across the pond. I believe we can do this.

Karl Bebout 04-09-2014 11:59 AM

Don't pull a Fitz and run it on a dyno until it puts a rod through the block. Oh wait...you probably didn't use truck rods, as I heard his "engine builder" did.

Danr55 04-24-2014 11:40 PM

I just talked with Charile and he tells me that the motor is in and running strong. Should be a good trip.

Karl or anyone else.. I think I'm going to be sick a couple of days next week. Wanna take a ride?

Karl Bebout 04-25-2014 06:49 AM

Excellent news, Danr! Tell us about the engine. Did you go with a bunch of new parts or were you lucky enough to be able to reuse components from your old engine? I'm sure a little JB Weld would have done wonders.

Great news Dan. Those FE motors can put out a lot of hp/torque and sound good. See you Friday.

Outstanding news. To damn bad I have to work, otherwise I would join you for a breakin run.

mikiec 04-27-2014 12:28 PM

Well, have you taken it out yet?

Danr55 04-27-2014 03:36 PM

No, not yet. I get it back on Monday.

Danr55 04-28-2014 01:42 PM

Car is home and runs great. Noisy too... I love it.

Car Nut 04-28-2014 02:22 PM

Now, don't break it again.

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 04-28-2014 02:27 PM

How wonderful Dan. I'll bet you can't wait for the 66 trip. If you lead we'll try to keep you in the distance. I could bring my dB meter and see how much louder Karl is.

AZ Bob

Danr55 04-29-2014 09:08 AM

I will try hard not to break it again,, I have not doubt that Karlos is still louder.. Much Louder.. and can be used for blowing debris off of your driveway..

Mike Brasfield 04-29-2014 09:14 AM

Where do you plan to go Dan?

Danr55 04-29-2014 10:27 AM

Go? For what Mike? If you mean for Rt. 66, Karl and I are meeting at the Chevron at McDowell and Recker at 0845 on Friday. Join us..

I tink he meant before Fri. You were going take a shake down cruise.

Danr55 04-29-2014 06:31 PM

I've been making the loop from 202 to 60W to 101N to 202E and back home each night. It's about a 35 mile trip. Combined with the mileage the Charlie put on it over the weekend, I should have about 250 miles on it when I change oil on Thursday nite. Not a lot, but if I'm careful, it should be enough. We know I'm always careful... or something.

mikiec 04-30-2014 06:24 AM

I'll still be looking for you on my way up. Nevermind, I go a different way that youse guys.

See everyone Friday night.

Mike Brasfield 04-30-2014 07:13 AM

Dave is right, you mentioned you were going to take a short cruise before leaving friday. I'll join you. I am tracking my cobra on saturday. No route 66 this year. Congrats on your new engine Dan.

Danr55 04-30-2014 09:39 AM

thanks Mike. I didn't understand what you were asking. My original plan was to take Thursday and Friday off and go for a run on thursday. That has changed. Since I can't get out on Thursday, I'm just making the loop each night.. You're welcome to come along if you'd like to.

Mike Brasfield 04-30-2014 01:43 PM

OK, I'm on a project at home on friday. Have a safe trip and be sure to not over rev on your cruise up north.
