It's about time for a new thread for Dan's motor search.
How about Gessford Machine Shop? Gessford Machine Shop Inc
or

I'd have to give the nod to Blykins and Keith Kraft, in that order.

I have a Flawless KC 482" Pond sideoiler in my ride but it's impossible to put a price on Brent's one-on-one customer service, knowledge and experience. He has helped more people here (customer and non-customer alike) than any other engine builder.

I have a KC 482 with Pond block, no complaints and love the set up that Keith built. Have talked to and ordered a Carb from Brent, very helpful. Cannot go wrong with either.

Those motors are very good. Some of you know my engine history but my Stage 5.25/3 408 motor has been flawless so far (since 2006). Other then a quarter size oil stain now and then on garage floor. I have changed the oil every 3000 miles like x good boy.
I have always anticipated "things" so I always change oil sooner then later; put new Quickfuel 850 Carb from Levy and had Bob Reams dial it in plus Reams put new Fuel regulator, Fuel Pump and lines last year.

Found the key to keeping these toys running right are frequent inspections and mandatory nut and bolt checks. Think if I could do it over I would have put another big block and kept those conversation pipes for "look see" and discussion.

Now I am thinking I am getting too old to drive this thing hard!

Well, I've talked with Brent and he has nothing. I've called Craft and they have one Truck motor with all 8 sleeved. (I don't think I could take the heat from Carnut if he knew I had a truck motor in the orange car), so I'm still looking. If something doesn't shake soon, I'll just sleeve what I've got and go from there.

Heat? It's only the beginning of March.

Who cares if it is a truck block. If it sonic checks out and is in great shape, go for it.

Danr, might as well bite the bullet and get yourself a nice RAT MOTOR. There are plenty of them around, since they weren't so subject to putting their rods through the block thus needing sleeves. You could make tons of power without spending tons of money, even though you'd need new headers, a tranny adapter, and a few miscellaneous goodies. You would have to get another carb to feed the increase in horsepower and torque, but I saw a Prosystems 1000cfm carb on craigslist for only $550.
I'm just sayin...trying to help out a bud. What the hey, you've already got the Chevy Orange color...

Mikie, You don't think I'd look good in a Pimpwagon Gold car with a ponytail?

I was looking for someone to build a 408 stroker last year. I talked with Brent Lykins but at that time he was buried with work etc and couldn't do it. He did come very highly recommended. I ended up going with Keith Craft and just recently installed their engine. Very impressed with the entire process. Great guys to work with, highly quality workmanship and a very nice engine. Very satisfied with them and the engine is awesome, tons of power!! Far exceeded my expectations.

What kind of deal? You give me $100 and I take the BBC? I really have no use for a Chebby motor.

"You will start to look like Karl."

"Mikie, You don't think I'd look good in a Pimpwagon Gold car with a ponytail?"

Danr, too bad you just married, again. If you started looking like me, besides having to get used to hitting your head on things, you'd be having to make too many decisions about which little sweetie you'd have each night.
