Bye Bye, So Long, Farewell
My beloved Copper Queen, a.k.a. pimp-ho-gold, left my garage for its last time today. She's on the way to the insurance salvage auction here in Phx. Hard to think of all the work and custom/special touches that went into that car the last 15 years she's been mine.
The search begins. Prefer to get either a slab side or a 289FIA, rather than a 427 style. Been looking on CC, Cobra Country, Hemmings, eBay, craigslist, and Classic Cars sites. Did I miss any places that advertise Cobras for sale? |
Karl, here are some more spots to look:
Lance Motors: Lance Motors - Monroe Twp, NJ 08831 Craigslist Phoenix: phoenix cars & trucks "Shelby Cobra" - craigslist FIA cars: Home - Riverside Racers EBay motors: Shelby Cobra | eBay AZ Bob |
Karl, sorry but glad to hear the car has passed on. Did you get pics of it"s leaving?
I think a slab side would be nice. FFR is getting ready to put one out. This way you can have the joy of building from new. https://www.factoryfive.com/kits/289...dster-replica/ Do me a favor, don't paint it copper. |
Cars online.com/Shelby. Lots.of.Conrad on there.
http://www.cars-on-line.com/59311.html You asked for it.. here it is.. |
How about a green 427 street model? Complete with tiny motor that shouldn't get you in too much trouble.
|
I know I'm in Tucson and news here doesn't arrive until two weeks after Phoenix but did I miss something with Karls car? Why is it going to a salvage auction? Is it because it had a Chevy engine?

That's it! You hit the nail on the head! Too Funny!

I think the operative word for Karl's car is crunch times 2.

Karl

Karl,
Very happy to hear your not giving up on the Cobra gang. If it helps, on future runs that you attend we will slow down for you.:D |
Thanks for all the expressions of "love".
Hey Jim, I'll never have another 10sec car, but at least I did for quite a while. whoopee! Found that my Panhard bar had broken loose from the frame and wonder if that may have contributed to my attempt at mountain climbing. I was pushing through the turns, but didn't think I was anywhere near the point of crash and burn. No difference now. Thanks for the site suggestions. Danr, the one you listed might be just what the doctor ordered, but the Webers scare me a bit. Can't say that I've really heard anything good about them, other than their looks. Mikiec, had more than enough building on a car for a while although I have to think doing one where someone gave me all the parts, and detailed instruction on how to put it together, would be a breeze, compared to what I, Mesa Mike, Mesa Dave, Hector, and Superstition Bill had to do on my old car. |
Wholly cow! Glad you're alright Karl but sorry about your car!
Btw, I'm pretty impressed with FFR's up coming FIA car if you're leaning towards something like that. 289 stuff can be more expensive and harder to find though than 427 stuff if you're an originalist. I have both. Larry |
Karl,
You don't know me but I am sorry about your loss and happy that you weren't seriously hurt. As a former racer I know how quick something can break loose or go wrong. I hope that you find another Cobra like you want soon. Also if you don't mind I woould like to copy your post about the panard bar and Webers and post them on out site for some of the members to read. But I won't do it until I hear from you. Good luck with the search for a new car. Ron :) |
I thought the Chevy engine remark was funny but then saw the pics of what really happened..Wow. So pleased you weren't hurt Karl.
Good luck in finding your new car, Best Ross |
Karl, There are lots of cars on that site.. So many I may just buy another one to keep the red one company.. Go take a look.
|
No matter what you find, you can always add pimp ho gold wheels to it. Problem solved.
|
Flag's at half mast here Karl. But think of the fun to come with Ho car 2.0!

Ron, by all means, post away. I'll be interested in seeing the replys.
"No matter what you find, you can always add pimp ho gold wheels to it. Problem solved" AH HA! what a great idea! If not the entire wheels, maybe just the spinners? Bling bling bling. Thanks Danr, I'll dig deeper. Paul, saw your car yesterday at Brown's. What a toy store! Oh to be rich instead of so good looking, young, hung, and well built. Hey Ross, the Chevy shot was a good one, but ya know, nobody wanted to drag race me...obviously, going around corners was not my strong suit. Thanks for the good thought. |
