2014 Party is Done and Done
#14 Anniversary/Christmas Party is now history. The rain Gods held off and we enjoyed a cloud-covered, pleasant, dry day. The clouds may have scared some away but I think we still had over 40 people, 25+ Cobras, a couple of Ferdinand's finest (one that just dyno'd over 800HP at the rear wheels). Ron had a friend drive that one so he could drive his aluminum blocked, 427, EFI stack injected continuation car. What a decision he has to make! Pete and Jan brought their gorgeous V-i-per roadster that replaced their Backdraft. Several folks from Tucson, some newbys, some oldbys, lots of good people, 'way too much good food, maybe one or two lies told. Dennis May once again allowed this motley crew to enjoy his hospitality. He showed off his sweet '40 Ford, which is the next step on his bucket list, after selling his beautious ERA, 289FIA, to me. The Yankee Swap gift exchange was fun, more for some than others, and several trophies were awarded. Someone will have to chronicle those results since I either couldn't hear the winners, or maybe I forget...
Bob Broberg did an excellent job of organizing and the thingy went off without a glitch. I'd imagine he had helpers and I'll let him give the props.
Thanks to everyone that braved the mid 60*s weather. Those that didn't show...you missed a good time.

Sounds like we missed a good one. Cooler than Bob predicted but not that bad.
Still feel like crap.

And you look it, too!
Sorry, Dave, I couldn't resist. Get well soon!
But you and Judy did miss another great event.

Karl is right. (Did I just say that?) Great time, great food, great cars, great people, great weather. Had lots of Cobras and various other cars like Porsches, Vette, GT350, 40 Ford, Viper, etc. Lots of food but could have used more meat. Too many desserts. My refrigerator is full.
Our pal Car Nut (Bruce) was sick and of course we miss Mikie and Ginny. Was much quieter today. We now have 8 wagons accounted for. Charlie has 5, Jeff 2 and Dan Shinn 1. Don’t have exact time to gather next Saturday yet. Keep looking.
Bruce Nelson is picking up the toys Monday from Dennis’s office. Bruce Bosley and I will be picking up the tables then too.
Thanks again to Dennis May for his hospitality. Cleanup went almost smoothly (except for the dumpster diving for a missing part by Dennis, Jeff and I.) Everyone was out by 1:30pm. Right on time.
Here is our list of trophy winners and some photos:
“Prettyest Cobra” awards to Bill and Bill:
And
Our “Driver” award to Karl:
Our “Iron Butt” award to Dan:

Thanks you everyone for a great day! Thank you Dennis for allowing us into your place!
Missed you and Ginny Mike! Did Karl tell you he got a beautiful carburetor for a present?

Sorry I missed it but my spirit was present in the Precision Driving Award.
Congrats (I guess) Karl!

Bob, in his own subtle way, made his statement about my "Precision Driving Award" by making sure it was laying on its side for the picture. No idea why. Beyond my comprehension.
I SWEAR, two times winning that trophy is my limit. Somebody, anybody else gets it from now on. Mrs. Sweetness will render me to singing soprano if I EVER crash a Cobra again!

Had a great time at the party! Trish did too. It's the first time she's been in the roadster for more than a few miles: then not that many. So she said she would like to come to the yearly event again. That speaks volumes! Thanks to Bob B for your organizing. Thanked Dennis, our host, for the nice venue. Seems perfect for this kind of event. Also enjoyed meeting some for the first time and a few the second or third time at these events. It really is a diverse group. See ya next year. WEK.

Dennis, the 40 looks good. Did you have much cleanup after Jim sat in it?

Thanks again to Joann Bosley and Carolyn Bacalar who did so much preparation, setup, cleanup and even ran the White Elephant Gifts. And neither one even has a cobra in the family. Just nice people.
