APRIL 4th AZ COBRAs PICNIC
I have reserved the Roadrunner ramada at Red Mountain Park in Mesa. 7745 East Brown Rd. Just west of the 202. Real easy to find and get to. (I'll post detailed directions later) Our reservation is from 10am-2pm. Lots of parking very close to the ramada, wizzers are an easy walk, the lake is less than 50 yds. away, if anyone has a fishing license, and wants to wet a line. The ramada is covered, has several picnic tables and benches, a good sized BBQ grill, and lots of grass around it. (gasp!) As always, provide your own entree and drinks, Please bring a side dish or cookies (JUDY) to share. I'll bring charcoal and lighter, paper plates and utensils, condiments. I'll also bring a small portable grill, since there's only one there. (others welcome, I'll have plenty of charcoal) Bring your own chairs, unless the picnic benches work for you.
Some folks asked for something different. Well, this is different. Come on out to "God's Country", East Bumbscrew Mesa. |
AZ Cobra Annual Picnic Saturday April 4th 10am to 2pm
Great job Karl. We all knew you could do it. New location should be fun. Here is a Google map location. http://tinyurl.com/ka7as47 The Roadrunner Ramada is at north east area right by a parking lot entry off Brown Rd. Here is a pdf site map to help. http://www.mesaaz.gov/parksrec/parks...ainSiteMap.pdf
I'll be there perhaps with a group from up in the northwest. AZ Bob |
I know, I know. Hard to believe I had a different ramada in mind, but, I did. Ours IS the Roadrunner and its where Bob Sez. However: There are already three grills there, so no one needs to bring theirs, unless you wana. The lake is probably 100+ yards away, but still an easy walk. There's even trees! There's several handicaped parking spaces directly in front of the ramada but plenty of spaces adjacent and 30' across from them.
Getting there could hardly be any easier. Take the 202 to Brown Rd. Navigate the traffic circles and head West on Brown Rd. Go to the 2nd traffic light (Sterling) turn South and the first ramada on the right is ours. Mikiec could even find it. There's a Basha's within a couple miles, in case anyone forgets something. |
I think we can find it.. We'll be there..
|
Sounds like a different plan this year.
|
Karl, You done good. I like that the parking is close. Can you save spots?
|
I will be there not Judy. She said she will make cookies tho.
|
Saving parking spots should not be too much of a problem. There are lots available and the next closest ramada has its own parking. I'm sure that several east siders will show up early and we can spread out.
|
Shouldn't be too crowded on the day before Easter Sunday.
AZ Bob |
Dave, do not eat all the cookies.
|
Never. Not a big fan of Judy's cookies. She never learned to make them here like they were in CA.
|
What do you know. They even have liberal cookies in Kalifornia.
|
Sounds like a plan. See you all there.
|
Love you all but gotta watch the Final Four :MECOOL:
Mike |
Never watched the final four, never will.
Mike, just tape it. Then you can watch without the commercials. |
Priorities! Its all about priorities.
|
Looking forward to it. Way to go Karl. I knew there was a reason you've been kept around.
|
This is the next event on the calendar. Saturday April 4. Hope to see everyone there.
|
Just went past the park yesterday and its still there.
Remember to bring chairs, your main eats, drinks, some sort of side dish to share. I'll supply the fire, paper towels, paper plates/forks/spoons/ mustard, ketchup, table covers, some cooking tools(tongs, spatulas) If there's anything needed, there's a Basha's within 2 miles. As I remember, there are three permanent grills at our ramada and I'll fire them all. We ought to be able to raise quite a smoke signal. However you wanna, get to the eastern loop of the 202, exit Brown Rd, go West on Brown to the second traffic light, Sterling St, go South and our ramada is the first one on the right. We have it reserved from 10am-2pm. No need to get the $6 park pass, like up at Ratlesnake, but if anyone wants to kick in to help defray the $72 city park reservation fee, I'll have a kitty jar available. Hoping our beautiful weather holds out and that we have a huge turnout. Haven't heard anything from the Tucson contingent, but all are certainly welcome. |
Thanks for all your efforts for this picnic Karl. I know I will contribute to the picnic or next accident expense, your choice.
