Here all this time I thought that fat chick water was Jeff's department.

He's bringing the dead cat to swing and hit a Mustang.

I have to agree that this annual holiday party has taken a strange turn. I like the idea of having the party at Bondurants. There are track events nearly year round that only a few attend. Not sure why we would invite anyone to the AZCobra Club's annual holiday party. Now if you want to put together a track day and need people, I'm up for that for sure. But many people have here have tried and failed.

Mesa Mike makes sense here. My concern with the autocross is you will not get 30 of our members to enter, in fact we haven't had 30 cobras at any event since early 2000 Anniversary Parties at Hershel's. I will attend no matter what but, it's for the camaraderie, not for racing.

Bob... I enjoy tracking my car but I hate autocross. Wait, wait and then 30 seconds of violent turns and then wait, wait again. I agree that it would probably be impossible to get 30 cobras out for the holiday party. Never seen but half of that in the past Decembers.

Very true, getting this group together is very tough to say the least.
I personally won't auto cross my baby either way, I won't track it either.
I need my baby to last as long as possible.

Take it from the voice of experience: There's not really anything on our cars that can't be fixed or replaced. I never thought I'd enjoy auto-crossing, but running on a road course is sure a hoot. Its plenty easy to get 'way sideways or even do a few roundy-rounds in the dirt, pushing a bit too hard, even with decent street tires.

Well, it sounds like we need some feedback from members.Do we invite outsiders to attend in order to get.the numbers up for track use or do we restrict attendance to AZ.Cobras and forgo the racing, or do we invite Cobra clubs from all over the country and see how many we can get to attend this once in a lifetime event? The latter being an idea I had not considered, but right now if is the idea I like the best. If club members have sold their cars, their Cobras are broken but they have a different vehicle that they would like to bring, then that's fine as long as they are on the mailing list for AZ Cobras.

I don't care either way. I want to see in person someone lose a wheel !!!! Autocross appeals to me. Pantera group would probably be cool and provide enough to get the minimum for track use. Mustangs would take over or limit it to a number or year maybe. Either way it is a Christmas gathering . Gary

I think we'd be hard pressed to come up with even 6 Cobras willing to do even the AutoX much less get out on a road course. I could be 'way off base (not for the first time). Panteras are definitely cool but I would prefer that maybe we throw out an invitation to any of the CA/NM/TX/CO/UT Cobra people just to see if there are any willing to come. I realize that December is not a very good time of year for traveling in many areas, but perhaps there would be some interest, given the venue and the possibility that Bob Bondurant will show. My 2¾¢ worth

Good idea Karl! Bondurant's autocross course is a lot better than the mixed up sea of cones I remember running in the late 80's (and getting lost once or twice.) The entire course is striped and two of the turns have race track style curbing. As I indicated on a previous page, I'm up for autocross or track time and happy to pay for either/both, but I'm between Cobras and would be running my old Z06, if other makes end up being allowed to participate.

Ok I'll bring a bottle of fat chick water and my Mustang detector . Mikie I still have the bottle given to me but it is getting very funky. The things growing inside the bottle would scare Superman!
I like Karlos's idea of asking our border state clubs to our Xmas party, just my 2 cents. For me this gathering is about the people in the club and now at a very cool venue. On average we wrap it up after lunch so that leaves a lot of daylight. You can have a second event but right now we have maybe 6 cars out of the 30 needed then it is us attending another clubs event.

OK Dan. Once in a lifetime event? Really? Where were you when there was an 80th birthday track event for Bob Bonderant? His family recovered Bob's original Cobra and had it delivered to him at the track. Lots of track time then. Also, Karl and 4 others in the AZ club attended a day of driving at Bonderant's with a full day of defensive driving including the auto cross. This, and I may be wrong, is OUR holiday party. Why don't you plan a track event and put the time and effort getting 30 or more cars there from where ever you want. Also, the Pantera Club invited us to their annual track event which drew a total of 2 AZ Cobra's. It was advertised by their club to ours and me to our club. Two,2. One thing I learned in the bast 10 years here, this club does not track, except for the few that do on a regular occasion. OK, I said my $0.02 and will attend the party if we are in town.

Mike, when they had that party, I was in Florida burying my sister. If you want to make this a personal discussion, I welcome your input, but let's take it off line. If you are so eager to pull a track day event, then pull it together and organize it. That's what I do when I want to invite other Cobra owners to join in an event. In any event, thanks for you opinion. Anyone else in the club have a different idea?
