Mesa Mike,
That's a great post right there.
What I have found when trying to plan a run is if Danr is not on board with the idea and doesn't commit to join in, no others will either.
If he likes the idea and commits to join in, several others will.
This is NOT a bash on Danr but rather the Danr followers.
Look what happened to our 2016 New Years day run post after Dan bailed out.
New Years Day Run
Lets see what happens on Karls breakfast run this Sunday.
Maybe since I posted this people will turn out for Karls run.

DWRAT...I hope to join Karl on sunday but I'm on my 3rd water pump trying to chase down a leak. Going to fire it up in the morning as see what happens.
My wife was reading over my shoulder as I wrote my post. She said "yes, if it's not fun for the girls we don't go. I don't want to sit in a parking lot anywhere". Yep, once we traveled to a car show in Anaheim. The girls rented a 15 pax van and went to Hollywood shopping for the day. while we sat in the parking lot. The ladies returned for a nice dinner and we all headed home sunday morning. Get the ladies to attend and the turnout will double. My guess. LOL

Mike,
I agree, kinda.
I know it's not fun for the wives but it's also not all that fun with the wife.
My wife drives me f#€£ing crazy when she's in the passenger seat.
I like to play, she says no way.

DWRAT...funny. Mine sleeps while we on cruising. Once we almost got lost because she was suppose to navigate through the Sierra Foothills but was asleep. If not for some Harley riders parked on the road pointing me in the right direction me and the 12 cars behind me would have been lost.
hinoonaz..letting the temp get a little warmer before I roll it out of the garage to go for a short run. Fingers crossed.

Mesa Mike- Are you sure it's the water pump that's leaking? Is the coolant coming from the weep hole, or is it coming from the gasket flanges?
Are you cleaning the bolt threads with a die or wire brush, and re-coating them with silicone before re-installing them? The 4 bolts that hold the water pump to the block all extend into the water jackets - They need to be sealed or they will leak back through the threads...
Also, if you haven't already, you might want to replace the T-Stat housing gasket as well, and if you have an aluminum water neck, then take a real good look at it for fine cracks - If the water neck is leaking, then the leak will usually run down along the water pump flanges, and can look like a water pump leak from the bottom...
Just a few suggestions for things to look for (if you haven't already... - no offense intended if you've already covered all these bases) - I'm not a big fan of "leak repair in a can" so that should be a last ditch option if the true source of the leak can't be identified and corrected.
I hate chasing leaks as much as I hate chasing electrical gremlins... (well, maybe not THAT much, LOL )

Mike, I had an issue with a water pump on my car. Then I remember that the gasket had a plasticized backing on it that needed to come off. After the third gasket failed, I removed the backing and guess what? It worked.
As to the run situation.. perhaps what you are seeing is similarity? When I decline a run, it's usually because of heat or cold. I am old. I am more affected by these two elements than I was 10 years ago when I started hanging with this crew of misfits and Type A bandits. Sometimes I have other things planned, but.. It's like Karls idea of running to Payson. I love going to Payson airport for breakfast. Matter of fact, I started the original run up the hill for breakfast when Canyon View Cafe was still open. Right now, 38 degrees is just too cold for an old man in an open car. As it turned out, I'm working today so all of the things I was doing today, I'm doing tomorrow. I couldn't go anyway. Back to the point. I don't believe that anyone "follows" me. I think that sometimes I just speak up and say what everyone else is thinking....cept when a case of hang down gets me.. OUCH! In any event, you guys do what Mikie and I used to do. Plan and event, tell everyone about it, then do it. If no one shows up, post pictures and tell the story. Bob brought it up but the first Coronado Trail Run is not exactly what I would call a huge party. The second year we had cars from Phoenix, Tucson, and even from the Pantera club join us. So strike out on your own. Don't wait for anyone to help you enjoy life. Just do it or before you can blink, you'll be old and wondering where your life went and what you did with it.

I think there is a slight difference between "bailing out", versus being diagnosed with pneumonia....

True
He bailed out because he was sick.
My bad for not wanting to try to spell new-mon-ya.
But you missed the point in my post and I'm not rehashing it again.
