I'd be down for anything - If the west side guys wanted to run north, I could meet up over on that side of town..
or, if everyone wanted to meet at Shea and Beeline, we could run 87 to 88, then across to Globe/Miami, lunch at Guayo's El Rey, then back down 60 through Oak Flat and Superior.
Another Idea I was noodling for a "someday" Friday-Saturday overnight trip would be to get a crew together, meet up at the InNOut at Litchfield road and I-10, and run over to LA and crash the Bob's BigBoy Friday night cruise in.... We could run over there on a Friday morning, get there about 2:00 (the car show runs from 3-10pm on Friday nights) then sack out in a local hotel, head back to Bob's on Saturday morning for breakfast, and then run back home...
The small block guys could do it at a total cost of about $150 for the weekend ($100 of which would be food and hotel... )
You big-block guys might have to take a 2nd mortgage on your house, just to make it to Blythe...

Robert, I'd make the run, for the drive and the DriveIn. While there, maybe a trip to Peterson's would be fun? Float a couple dates and see what Motels might be available, where the cars would be pretty much secure and not stooopid expensive. (ie $200+)

A run to Cali would have to happen soon as it's only getting hotter these days.

Yeah, the schedule could be a challenge with the picnic coming up in April, and then the Route66 run - May will be starting to get too hot for a cross-desert run anyway.
But late October, or early November might also work, and typically the overnight room rates in LA are a little better in the fall as well...
Stay tuned- I'll do some more research and see how feasible a trip like this would be.

Ken,
If you're talking about tomorrow the 18th I think about half usually go back via Globe and half go back via Beeline.

Tomorrow, 03/18, I'll be going back through Globe after lunch at Butcher Hook. Its a nice ride along Roosevelt Lake and then, of course, the great scenery from Miami back to the Valley. Hope the construction isn't too nasty on 60, but Fridays are not days they close it down for blasting.
