That can also be due to the torque. The GT engine is real torquey and the transmission not as lossy.

Mine has a pulley kit, tune, cat-back, hot pockets, personalized coil covers and some other do-dads. I have 8000 miles on mine and in need of new tires.

It drives like a 60's car, a drivers car, not like a late model 911.

I stopped in at my local Ford dealer for updates on trying to get a new one ordered. It seems that you might have to already own one to buy a new one, plus you will have to submit a "resume" explaining how much "Blue Blood" runs through your veins to apply.

I am in the fence in a "in wrapper car" versus having a few miles on it. Ideally the 2-4K mile car that I can drive and enjoy the way they were meant would be ideal but the others are the ones bringing the top dollar over the last 3-5 years. I am not worried about driving it as it you have your head screwed on straight and respect the danger and keep yourself within your limits I believe you will be fine. Not so for the idiots that think they are Mario Andretti when never driven a HP super car.

I have heard about the high amt that have been wrecked and "fixed" and that is my biggest concern to find a clean honest car that I can hopefully enjoy( although it may mean giving up my Eleanor and another car to even get close. If I am lucky enough to,own one I want one Unmodified( unless bolt on) white/blue or the reverse color or the Gulf livery
Cheers!

Local Ford dealers are clueless about the new one. There are still some dealers taking deposits thinking they will sell the car (they won't) There will be an application process directly through Ford to buy it. Cars will be sold to a person, not through a dealer, and you will choose a delivery dealer. This will prevent the ADMs we see on the GT350s. There will also be a lockdown resale period where Ford will get right of first refusal. The application process (which will open in April at the latest word) will result in a vetting procedure. And yes, there will be a ranking and rating (ranting and raving, just like in performance reviews and raises) that will determine who gets the cars. Ford estimates there will be at least 3000 applications for 250 vehicles (with most of those being for the 150 or so US vehicles). Being an ORIGINAL (10 year+) owner will reportedly get you bonus points but that alone will not guarantee you a car. Many other factors will be involved. What those are is anyone's guess, we'll just have to wait.

BTW, my pulley/tune gets me 650HP/650Tq (I have the dyno sheet) at the rear wheels. It was a hoot on the track.

By the way, photos of the blue/white car always look washed out. The blue in person is superb.

From memory, I believe the most recent issue of Keith Martin's Sport Market mentioned that the white/blue stripe is rare, maybe the rarest, besides no stripes? The GT owners here probably know the color/stripe breakdown off the top of their heads. I also prefer the white/blue stripes FGT's.

I'd have to buy one to drive at least 500-1000 miles/year and not sit in a wrapper in the garage like legenmetals.

Also, according to Sports Car Market, the FGT's have had such a run-up in prices, a bit like the air-cooled Porsches, that they predicted a leveling off. But they're certainly not going to be decreasing alot, if at all. Go buy one!

Beautiful cars!

I qualify for everything FoMoco wants, except that pesky $$ thing! Damn it!
And a dealer willing to take a deposit? Of course they will!! Money in the till until they call you back and say..."Uh, we have a problem delivering that car..can you stop by and look at something else?"

If you google "Towne Ford" in Redwood City, CA, the street view will show that they have a Blue/White Stripe FGT in their showroom. They've had it there since 2005-2006. I have never seen it move. Just amazing.

I've heard that many have offered ridiculous amounts of money for it, but the owner will not sell. I'll bet he or she wants to keep business flowing through the showroom with that attention-getter.

Ford dealers were TOLD early on not to take deposits. I was at Barrett Jackson in Vegas last fall and talking to a guy looking at one and he told me that he had put a 200K deposit with a dealer. By that time the process had been known for about 6 months, I explained to him that the dealer wouldn't be involved and that deposits (fake) won't improve your chances. I was wandering around nearby the next day and he thanked me and told me he had gotten his money back.

Can't believe it's still there. I saw it there years ago. Wow!

There were quite a few dealers that held the car for the owner. When I first started looking there was a dealer Kansas that had one "on the books" but when I called they wanted 350K for it (that was when red cars were selling for 170). The guy explained it was the owners car and they had to have a price on it to carry it on the dealer plan for insurance etc. I think he still has the car (and the price has gone up to match the absurdity). And it certainly is a draw to get people in the door that might otherwise just walk around.

P.S. For the new gt, dealer owners that want a car for their own personal use have to apply just like the rest of us. Their ranking/rating system will be different from ours, and they will compete for a different pool of cars.

Yep, still there and every time I drive down El Camino Real past the dealership, it becomes a safety hazard for me and every driver and pedestrian around me.

No, that's not it. My GT feels way less torquey than some of my other rides, including the GT500 I mentioned.

Granted, this is just cut and paste from wiki, but this better states what I was trying to express:

"Mid engined cars are more dangerous than front-engined cars if the driver loses control - although this may be initially harder to provoke due to the superior balance - and the car begins to spin. The moment of inertia about the center of gravity is low due to the concentration of mass between the axles (similar to standing in the middle of a playground roundabout, rather than at the edge) and the spin will occur suddenly, the car will rotate faster and it will be harder to recover from. Conversely, a front-engined car is more likely to break away in a progressive and controllable manner as the tires lose traction."

I could not in the cobra and cannot in the gt do a straight line burnout. The rear end always wanted/wants to come around. Donuts all day long but won't go straight

Try it with a fresh top-off of 42 gallons in the tank in a Cobra!

Put on a set of Hoosier A7's and traction is great. Here is a video of GT at Fontana
194 mph just before old man does a big chicken lift for turn 1.

Your car sounds fantastic- what other mods have you done? Did you say 26.5 lbs of boost before? That is crazy- are you running twin turbo, or just a tiny pulley on a Whipple or something?

Thank You
Long tube headers, X pipe, Accufab throttle body, 4 liter whipple with small pulley, 105 octane unleaded, Mafia on MAF along with special tune.
Penske shocks, springs calibrated for neutral handling, dual MSD fuel pump boosters and water spray on inter cooler to reduce IA temps. 862 RWHP hp
less than turbo cars but better for road courses

174 front straight at Big Willow
