i got a room at the Comfort Inn at 2615 Santa Monica Blvd. for the night of Sept. 15. Phone 310-828-5517. Booked on Trivago it was $190. It looks like Gary has gotten us a better deal in Pismo than I could get in Morro Bay. He also has gotten some good deals in Santa Cruz. Follow the thread and make your calls. THanks Gary. You're obviously better at this than I am.

We have been texting about Friday and Saturday night in Pizmo Beach. Very good rates, our cars are outside our rooms. It is a boutique type motel. Total of 10 rooms. We fill him up we get a BBQ. They have single queen, king and double beds ranging with senior or Triple aaa 10% off. 95 to 115 per night. 805-773-4373. Mention AZ Cobra. He has a 69 scout fully restored and is excited about us being there. Gary Sept 16 and 17th

I'm in at Pismo Beach and at Santa Cruz. Keep going. You're doing great.

I would like to overnight in Benicia and go to the Cobra Museum in Martinez. It's also a good time to ask if anyone else wants to go to the Shelby Museum on the way back?

I went back through this thread. Cobrakeith and DrDuc want to go over Golden Gate and travel through woods to Napa Sonoma, Dan wants Benicia and Cobra Museum . SScobra, Dwrat, Varmit and Sideoiler427 show interest in hooking up either from Phx or on the coast. Any input would be appreciated. I like both ideas. Benicia- old stomping Dan? ha ha Gary

Gary, The original plan was to go over the bridge and through Muir Wood, down to the beach and then over to Napa in one day. Spending the night in Benicia and then the Cobra Museum just across the bridge in Martinez was added. So.. As to Benicia, it's probably the most important unknown city in California. the first capitol of the state and the original Presidio guarding the entrance to the Estuary. Lots of history and some wonderful sights in this little town.

I feel the need to drive over the Golden Gate Bridge, through Muir Woods, and to the beach, although not onto Napa. I don't drink, when I'm in the US, and I've seen 'way more than enough wineries.

I'm definitely up for the Cobra Museum. I'd go for the bi-plane ride, if its under $200.

Karl, I don't drink wine either, but I do eat and they have some of the best sandwiche shoppes in the Napa Valley that I've ever come across and the scenery is beautiful. So, wine is not necessarily the incentive.

For those of us, NOT going to Santa Monica, Thursday, 09/15. I found the Camarillo Executive Inn, which is maybe 10 miles North of Oxnard. On Booking.com, I booked a double room, with breakfast and free WIFI, for $82, including taxes. It has a three star rating, good reviews, should be just fine for one night. Don't even have to pay until I get there.

I'm booked at the Camarillo, and will skip Santa Monica. That is if my hands have healed properly.

Hi AZ Gang

Bay area guy....the drive over the GG bridge (maybe stopping at lookout to view SF) is worth all that driving from AZ. From the north end of the GG bridge to Napa is only about an hour. From Napa to Benicia (other direction) about an hour.

While Benicia is nice with with Cobra museum, Napa has much better food choice and also close to Sonoma with the Mission Inn, and again...more food choice. See the recurring theme for me is finding good food!

I will meet up hopefully at Lake Tahoe, as I am headed to a resort for some R & R as I believe you folks are driving up to the Lake on thursday, me on friday.

I understand the BAY Area Cobra rallies around the best western on the south shore...so that is where the majority of the other cars plan to be (close to casinos)

I'm staying close to that location, just closer to the Lake and a little quieter plus the place I am staying has a private courtyard for the car. It's a bit steep in price...but I"m not traveling as long as you folks.

Enjoy....see you soon

Al, why so surprised? "This is really going to happen".... Old men and bucket lists are critical events. Of course this is really going to happen.
