For folks traveling through the east valley, be aware that ADOT will have the westbound Loop 202 closed between Greenfield and Gilbert Roads. Depending on where you start from, it might be best to take Bush Highway past Saguaro Lake like Karl and us are doing.

Kark,
You're MIA even when you're there.

Robert,
I like your enthusiasm.

The most memorable times I have in the Cobra are the 2 severe rain storms, and 1 sleet storm. The mention of rain is no problem, but ice ?

Clouds are supposed to roll in overnight tonight. 5%-15% chance of rain over the course of the day tomorrow... Not exactly a huge chance of rain (of course, it wasn't supposed to rain last weekend at all, and look what happened to you guys coming home from Coronado, haha)

looks like the western half of the state has higher chances of rain- Prescott is 40-50%

Overcast would be great for driving, and we'll all be back home by noon-1:00 ish (Siggins and Ratti will probably both be home by 11:30... )

Unless the roads are really wet when I wake up, I'm rolling.... Unless we all want to push to Sunday.

according to the weather channel, it should be warm with a few clouds until tomorrow afternoon when there is a 20% chance of showers. Tonto Basin will have a few clouds in the morning with a slight chance of light thundershowers. Late afternoon will see an increasing chance for a thundershower after 1500 hrs. Don't be a woosiiee.. You won't melt if you get wet, will you? You're not made of sugar..

My sweet ex-wife used to tell me that "fat is not soluble in water". All the same, I think I'll pack the soft top.

I don't like getting wet and cold but what I really dislike is all the clean up that's necessary after getting caught in the rain. I much prefer driving the car to scrubbing and buffing.

I agree Karl, still haven't got mine clean from last weekend. I can't make this run so all you guys have a good trip.

Thanks for the replies and we are having fun. We did get up to Jerome and we are traveling with another couple so we're in a great big Chevy Suburban. A fun road indeed and I went easy going up, not knowing the road, but coming back down, after a haunted burger, drove a bit faster and "cobra driving" in my mind heard my wife from the backseat saying slow down a$$hole. Selective hearing was engaged and it took 5 or 6 more turns until I kept on my side of the road and dropped 20 mph. Apparently rocket lady didn't like the drop off into the canyon and pretty sure it's a control thing anyway. We were on a tight schedule so took the highway rather than 89, but it really is beautiful country. Hit Bluff, UT, then Durango, now in Albuquerque for balloon fest. I miss the driving and having fun here but can't wait to get home for Fall rides in New England where we turn the wheel every 100 ft or so.

Looks like the rain came in early...

all the storms are moving south to north, and I see nothing but clear skies to the south and southeast...after these rains move north, the weather in motion map on weather.com predicts no more rain in Arizona for the next 5 hours.

I think this rain is a head-fake. I'm rolling out in about 40 minutes. I will be at the Bush Hwy ramp.

Accu Weather is predicting t'storms in Payson at 11 and in Globe for noon. If that changes by 8, I'll be hitting the road, if not...ARHG! "I WANNA DRIVE!" (Stolen from the Scotchman on the CA Coast trip.)

All you rain-fearing Sissy-girls missed a FANTASTIC morning drive... Not a drop of rain. none, zero.

But whew- I pulled into the garage just in the nick of time, It was starting to get hot out there.

The maiden voyage for my "new enough for me" car was an absolute blast. The car drives and handles just like I hoped it would- 170 more issue-free miles on the odo (Just the tip of the iceberg - I'm gonna drive this car until the wheels fall off )

I added more pictures to Facebook. Even shrinking a picture of Robert down to 56k, I couldn't get it to upload. Facebook took a whole group at once and I didn't have to resize any of them. (I've no doubt that they've been resized, but I didn't have to do it.)

All in All, a great day. Nice sunny weather, guessers aside, and almost empty roads for most of the trip. Never got too fast, but neither did it get too slow.. the food, as usual was factastic.. I like this place. Note to self: next time listen to wife. The Chorizo was better than the bacon..
