How are you liking your GPS Speedo from Speedhut so far? I've got one all spec'd out to match my other SW gauges, and it's sitting in my shopping cart on Speedhut waiting for me to break out the credit card and submit the order... Just wondering if yours has delivered to your expectations? |
I'm not certain, of course, but I recall Karl saying that he was going to send it back as it was not consistent. You'll want to confirm with him but I wanted to let you know before you order it. Those shopping carts are pesky things.

I'm waiting my third speedo. For some reason, the first one was sporadic. The manufacturer quickly sent me a return label and then another unit. That one ran about 2 miles and then pegged the needle and would not respond, even to another power source. I have heard very good reviews about SpeedHut's products and have to say their customer service is outstanding. I'm sure we'll get my problem figured out, soon, I hope.

I'm still tempted to go through with my order and take a chance. installing a gauge in the dash 3 times is still a lot easier than pulling the tail cone off the toploader once... :) Especially if I pull the tranny cone and replace the drive gear, and then hook it all back up and discover that my speedo's issues are actually inside the gauge itself... I'd be spending the same $ regardless. |

RB, don't blame you for getting rid of your SW speedo. Mine was a POS. The odometer miles never flipped until almost to the next integer and the speed would fluctuate from dead on to 10% fast, when compared to my Garmin GPS. Fortunately, all the other SW gauges have been fine.
Just spend the money and get rid of that top loader. Your engine will thank you for it. |
I've put about 3,000 miles on mine and I love it. I'm going to be ordering the rest of the gauges soon. Very happy with my Speedhut speedo.

How often? Well, 3 times on Sunday, and I haven't driven the car since, and today is Tuesday, so I guess it averages out to once per day...:)

Well, sounds like you are in good shape just as you are. No reason to make.any improvements.

I finally got around to ordering my GPS speedo last night- Will be here in 2 weeks or so.

Got my 3rd speedo yesterday. I'd triple checked all my wiring before installing it and was real happy when it acquired its signal and worked just fine when I drove up to Brown's open house last night. Driving home, its light didn't work so I couldn't really see if it was working or not, but after I stopped for fuel, I could see that the needle would not move off the 10MPH and stayed that way, all the way home. I'll try it today to see if, for some reason, it functions without my headlight on??? I'm at a loss. As a last resort, I'll pull it out, again, and give it a try in another car. I'm certain SpeedHut makes a great product, just not understanding whatdaf$$k. I have just gotten 'WAY too good at dropping my dash!

I hate to ask Karl, but when you have the dash dropped, see if you can locate the accessory wires for a cigarette lighter. I want to mount a phone charger plug but can't locate the wires in the loom. I think they're hidden by the heater in my car. There's very little room to poke around in there. -Ron
