Even in my Mustang circles, we doubt that 208 mph claim. I have only had mine up to 120 on I-10 last Sunday. Smooth and steady. Here's one doing 220 on a mile runway: Karl will love this.

208? maybe down hill, with a tail wind, and a Chevy towing it. tee hee
I'd seen the new story and it didn't mention any modifications or power adders. Maybe the young driver had strapped on a big shot of nitrous joy juice. Don't know how the LEOs got a clocking on him.

The news account I saw said heavily modified.
He should do some jail time and lose his ability to get a drivers license for a long time.

I think heavily modified meant broken radar unit.

Neutral
Hennessy has tested their latest Mustang HP750 at 207.9 MPH. That is a 5.0 motor with a 2.9 Whipple (I think). This is one they sell to the public. Hellion makes a 1000 hp twin turbo set up also. So yes, I say it is possible.
Of course I understand why the Chebbie boys don't believe it, they're accustomed to the slower speeds.
