Sumpthin Different Thursday 12/13/18
Seems like there are myriad reasons/excuses for not going on weekend runs, so this one is on a Thursday, for those of us unemployed, worthless, folks that don't need to report for work. (or can finagle a "sick day") Leave the I 17 and Carefree Hwy. Chevron at 10 am. Ease across to Wickenburg and then take hwy 60 West. We can then take the Vulture Mine Rd. south to I 10. Or...continue on 60 West to Agulia or, continue farther west on 60 to Salome. There is the Coyote Den in Agulia or the Salome Cafe. Both have decent food reviews and would be good for lunch. From either Agulia or Salome, we can go southbound to I 10 and scoot back to the Valley.
At the party, 2Bars suggested the Vulture Mine road route as having some twisty-curvies and then a straight shot, good for airborn adventures because "I can see for Miles".
I've never been on any of these three southbound routes to I 10 but the map shows they are all paved.
Suggestions welcomed.
Crappy weather will negate the plans, of course.

Sounds very interesting. Thanks Karl. If weather is good, I will join.
I have coffee every Friday morning out in Surprise with a group of about 8-12 old car guys. We call us ROMEO, an acronym for "Retired Old Men Eating Out." Sound like the same kind of group. Yes. we do go out to lunch once a month or so.

Other runs could include Kirkland Junction and Bagdad. Both higher altitude and perhaps better for spring or fall for us whimps.

Kirkland Junction? Keith, Scottie and I just went through there and didn't see Costco's headquarters?
Sounds like a nice jaunt: Wickenburg, Yarnell, Kirkland Jct, Kirkland, Yava, Hillside, Bagdad, double backflip back to 93 South and head for home? I'm all atwitter. I wanna drive! This would be approximately 330 total miles for me. Much less for non-God's-Country types. See how the weather is in January. The 12/13, Thursday's run gonna do me for this year, but I'd definitely up for some miles in January.

AccuWeather sez Thursday should get up to 70° and plenty of sunshine. Sounding good. I'm thinking we should just plan on going all the way to Salome, since its looking like only 26 miles from Wickenburg to Agulia and then another 28 to Salome. Maybe the deciding factor would be the eats or Scottie's bladder. The Salome Cafe has good reviews, "American Food". The Coyote Den in Agulia also has good reviews and Mexican food.
We could also check all the boxes: Go to Salome, double back on 60 to the Vulture Mine road and take it south to I10, since 2Bars had talked about what a nice jaunt that is.
Youse folks going, think about the options and we can discuss it before the 10 o'clock lift off.

A great ride today. Drove out past Wickenberg to Salome, and then back and south to Tonopah, and back on I17.

Fun ride. A few twisties and then lots of whoop-de-dooz on the way south on the Vulture Mine Road. Not sure, but think there was a chance that the speed limit might have been surpassed on the 60 West. Maybe even doubled once or thrice.
374 total miles for me and a sterling 14MPG from all those carburetors sucking a lot of wind at triple digits.
Skimpy turnout with a few no-shows.
Mark, Scottie, and I had a good time.
