Default New Factory Five Racing Roadster MKIV in town!!

I've been lurking and talking with some of you guys over the last year. I finally bought a Cobra!! The builder is in Texas, and had it about 75% completed, less paint and finishing touches. He got re-assigned with the military and couldn't bring his car to the island in the Pacific.

So, I bought a fresh built, 347ci, 475 HP, 5 speed. Anything to do with the body is not touched, so I plan to make black out the exhaust, grommets, bumpers, roll bar, etc. Then a Black Cherry paint job with a single black stripe. I will likely run it for 500 miles break in and maybe until the end of summer as a Gel-Coat car.

I like it! I'd not spend the money on a paint job until I felt the need for a different color.

Welcome to the madddddness!

I can understand you're wanting some break-in/shake-down miles. Bring it on out to our annual picnic at Saguaro Lake, Saturday April 6th.

Yes, running great. I need to register it though in the next few weeks when I can get an inspection.

Yeah, I thought I bought a car that only needed paint and was 75% complete. After only a few hours, that dropped down to 68%, since I need to change a few things.

3-D printed my first part today though, a turn signal handle for the Grote Mfg turn signal unit.

At least I accomplished something while I watched the home A/C guys install a new unit in my house. Which just so happened to be the same cost as my former paint budget.

Rob, you sorta lucked out with your AC unit dying now. Would have been so nasty in July and you probably would have had to wait a few days for a fix. ARGH! Even if you're car is not ready, come on out to the picnic anyway. There will be people there without Cobras. Mostly JAFMs.

Yeah, I just happened to change the air filter and noticed there was oil and rust at one of the copper pipes. I pulled of the cover and the whole unit was rusted inside. I was able to schedule a guy on his day off and get the friend rate.

I should be able to make the picnic. Just need to bolt down the sets to make it pass inspection.

Rob, Red is a great color. It really gets interesting dealing with some of the color blind folk around here who keep seeing red and saying orange. Welcome to the insanity..

Agreed. My car is Rangoon Red, and to my eye it varies from red to orange, depending upon the angle light, time of day, sunny vs overcast, etc. And no, I'm not at all colour blind.

This car is listed as "Factory correct Rangoon Red" and certain images appear to have an orange cast on my monitor - which has been calibrated for photo editing. https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds...a/2241562.html

Brian, I understand Rangoon red, it's people like Carlos and Scotty you need to explain it to. They can't tell the difference between Rangoon red and Chevy Orange.

Went to the DMV today!! Car passed inspection and got a registration and title. Fairly painless, but everyone was new. So the supervisors had to step in a few times.

I said 160 miles on the odometer. Title printed out as 160,000 miles.... That took a few steps backwards, but they were all learning.

Good news, its legal now!!

Mesa. The permit woman was new, the title guy was new, but the inspector woman seemed to know what to do. I had to show her the forum thread on how to title a SPCON though.

What year does the title say? Sure hope it's in the 60s.
