And, We Have LiftOff
Its a balmy 82° at 5am, 08/21/19 and my jaunt begins. First stop: Winslow AZ for fuel and breakfast.
I thoroughly checked out the Cobra, replaced all the coolant hoses and fuel hoses, changed the oil and filter, flushed the cooling system and refilled with distilled water and a bottle of Barr's Anti Rust/Water Pump Lube, borrowed a soft top from Ron Stein, and I hitting the road. More info along the way and I'll include pictures, if I can figgggggure out how to do it. Otherwise they'll be on the AZ Cobras FB.
Gotta do this stuff BEFORE I get old.
I WANNA DRIVE!

Greetings, 514 miles later, from Moab, UT. 70% of the drive had beautiful scenery. The rest...not so much. Nice and toasty, once I came down from the rim. Even 104° in Moab. Only freeway was 50-60 miles On I40 East from Winslow to rt 191North, that I took all the way to Moab. The rest was mostly 2 lane blacktop with very little traffic. I did get to chat with a nice DPS Trooper, just south of Chinle. He suggested that 83 in his 65 zone was not such a good idea. Of course, I concured. Just too easy to let the speed creep up on the wide open spaces. My lucky day, though, just a friendly warning, but it's in the system. Wonder if other States have access to warning notices? Anyway, off to Nevada tomorrow before striking North towards Kalispell. Maybe I'll just latch on to someone doing 5-9 MPH over the speed limit and let their cruise control be my bird dog.

Made it to glorious Ely, NV today. Another 455 miles. Much was beautiful and much was hay fields. Miles of hay fields. Got stuck in a traffic jam due to a nasty fire that closed both directions of I15, in Utah. I'd taken it south to hook up with Hwy 50. Did some double back flips and a different route that probably added another 100 miles. Oh well, nice day for a ride. Against my preference, I did probably at least 200 miles on freeway. Most of it was at 85+ since the speed limit is 80. That is of course, just a suggestion . It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood and not as toasty as yesterday. Even approached a little chilliness at 7700' elevation. Got over that real quick. Twin Falls tomorrow, Kalispell should happen Saturday. The Webers don't like the high elevations but the car is running fine. Being down On some power is more noticeable when there's not so much to start with.

Easy 300 miles today. Parked in Buhl, ID for the night. 13 miles SW of Twin Falls. Not so much dramatic scenery today. Distant mountains and lots of farmland. Beautiful day for a ride. Still smiling.
