Anniversary Party Charity Schedule
Mike Madsen has nailed down our charity specifics and we have sent the information to Paul Gillespie for emailing and to finalize this year’s flyer. We should all be getting one or more emails soon. Thank you to Mike and to Paul.
Toys delivery will be Saturday, December 14th at 11am at PCH. With Dr Duc’s (Bruce Nelson’s) permission we can gather at his office as we have done previously. Perhaps lunch after? Per our usual tradition we have selected a charity to support again this year. For 2019, that charity will be the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Unlike some previous years where we donated the wagons, this year we are donating TOYS and GIFT CARDS. The PCH folks have specifically asked that we focus on TODDLERS and TEENS since they tend to get ignored in favor of the 4-12 yr olds. Here are the details: • We will make our donation on 14-December (time TBD between 10:00-11:00 AM) o We will head down in our Cobras plus I (Mike) will have a pickup for carrying the toys o Meeting point for the trip over to PCH will be decided < the 14th – we will meet and caravan down together. • Bring your gift/card to the X-mas party on 7-December, or if you prefer, bring with you for our dropoff on the 14th • Focus on Toys and Gift Cards for Toddlers and Teens o The attachment has a link to a “wish list” for each group. o If you donate a gift card make it in denominations of $10.00 o If you donate toys, they need to be new, unwrapped toys in their original packaging… o Things to avoid Toy guns or anything associated with war/battle Latex balloons Candy, gum or any kind of food Scary/violent toys or action figures NO stuffed animals…. Nothing used… Again – we will collect everything on the 7th if you want to bring it to Ron’s place for the X-mas party, OR you can just bring it with you on the 14th, and I will publish a rendezvous point for our caravan down on the 14th as we get closer to the date…. Will post more later CC permitting. AZ Bob |

Best laid plans sometimes don't work out. As Robert Burns wrote in “To a Mouse," "The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft a-gley.” We had 9 cobras meet at Dr Bruce's office and drive down to Phoenix Children's Hospital led by Jamie Madsen in her hot Macan. Got a great welcome once space was available from Tim Harrison VP from PCH. Here is photo.
https://i.postimg.cc/8CWm8Tcr/IMG-2628.jpg But then our plans for lunch fell apart. Our previous visits were to Jerry's Restaurant at 23rd St and Thomas but....turns out that is now an Embassy Suites Hotel. Everyone went their own way and I went home. Great day for a cobra. Fun driving day. Thanks to all our members. Mark Schwarz got his Wagon from Gary who is now verticle at least. AZ Bob |
Jerry's restaurant is now an empty dirt lot. The crew became spit up, but Scotty, Jim, Mark, Krystine and myself ended up at Manuel's at Scotty's suggestion. Great Mexican food and a good time before we all headed home. Sorry we lost the rest of you.

That Scotty...he's all about the food.

Where to the Toys Go at PCH?
Thought you would like to know. Got this message from Tara Hansen at PCH.
Friends of Phoenix Children’s Hospital – Looking for a great way to engage your employees this holiday season? Possibly an addition to your holiday party? Phoenix Children’s Hospital Annual Toyland and Toy Drive brings hope to patients and their families at a time when being in the Hospital can be extremely stressful. Every child admitted to the hospital over the holidays receives brand new toys at no cost. Parents are able to focus on their child and not have to worry about shopping for gifts. The holiday season is a special time of year for the Hospital thanks to the generous support from the community when people really step up to help make a significant impact for our patients. Tens of thousands of community members, donors, volunteers, employees, and local business leaders make this possible for our patients and their families. We are still in need of donations for 2019. Each year unwrapped new toys are accepted from toy drives held by companies, community organizations and individual donors. Any holiday donations that are not distributed help sustain our ability to give toys to children in the hospital throughout the year. If this sounds like something your team would be interested in please let me know. I can provide supporting items and help to facilitate your delivery. This is a great opportunity to get a team photo at the drop. Below is an image displaying the shop that we set up for our families to choose gifts from. If this is something you are interested in, please let me know. https://i.postimg.cc/C55j6BKC/PCH-Toyland.jpg AZ Bob |
