But, a 427 is not a "Real" 427, it's a 426.
And, a 428 is not a "Real" 428, it's a 427.
So, should we be really referring to them as 426 Cobra's ?

Happy FE-427, 428, 429 days I don't know where you boys get that FE's leak ??? Now granted, I don't have a lot of miles on my Side-Oiler (yet), And yes, Karl it has Oil in it Mike's 427S/O had a little valve cover leak this year, but easily fixed. Now Tim's 428 consumes a quart every 200 miles, but doesn't LEAK, or burn (No Smoke) it and yes we don't know where it going (Rings?) ??? Cheers TommyRot.

YOur oil consumption is obviously a plot by the petro industry to jack sales.
Or
Your dip sticks shrink over time.

Damn leaks. I got the valve covers sealed up good (I’m an expert at that now) but after a couple hundred miles I still find a little oil mist deposited on the oil pan and bell housing and a few drops on the frame rails. Who knows where it’s coming from. I have checked the oil pan bolts and they are snug. Maybe the timing cover...will check it this weekend. It runs so good I can’t complain....

Sometimes a little leak is not worth the trouble to fix.... wait until your doing something more major.
I had a ‘66 corvette 427ci many years ago that marked its territory
like a FE. Lol.
after engine rebuilt....no leak

@ Danny, I spoke with Tim, oil pressure is good (85-95 cold-- 65-75 hot) He did just install a new type "pressurized PCV Valve" system that (Bruce Synder) installed on his new 347 build, Bruce said it cured his " oil mist" problem (PHX MIike I have Bruce's # if want to talk to him). Danr, If you want to see Tim's car it's is still @ The Stables" in PHX. just down the block from Ron's shop, you could look at his PCV system. If you need Tim's # just Email me, and you could talk to him yourself. Cheers Boys, TommyRot.

Thx - I snugged up the timing cover lower bolts - will see if that does the trick. If not I think I may drop the pan and reseal it next time I change the oil....I am sure it’s something simple. Engine uses no oil at all...

You're welcome Mike, if you want to look at Tim's car (428FE) with that system on it, I'm sure it's not a problem (Since it's @ The Stables there in PHX. at least till the end of May), or if you want Tim's # just ask, Karl (I think) has Tim's # too. Cheers TommyRot.
