Prescott Skull Valley Friday 11/6
Rain and snow in the forecast for Sat and Sun, so Friday it is.
Depart, Fry's gas station I-17 and Dove Valley 8AM. Stop for fuel in Congress about 80-90 miles. Up 89A to Prescott and return through Skull Valley. Lunch or breakfast at the Horseshoe Cafe in Wickenburg about 11:45. I like the Horseshoe Omelet. :) It looks like it will be under 60° when we get to Prescott. https://www.restaurantji.com/az/wick...rseshoe-cafe-/ |
So...Dove Valley to Wickenburg, to Yarnell, to Prescott, to Skull Valley, to Peoples Valley/Kirkland Jct, to Yarnell, to Wickenburg, to home. Correcto?

Only 209 miles for me today. After we got North of Wickenburg a few miles, Scotty's clutch pedal decided to stick to the floor. He couldn't readily identify the problem so called AAA. They told him that he could not ride with the tow truck driver, due to Covid, so I stuck with him. Mark (who was 'way ahead of us), John and Keith continued on with the run and I waited with Scotty, planning on Ubering him home. The truck finally came, after about 3 hours, and the driver had no trouble with Scotty riding with him. After getting the car loaded onto the flatbed, I made my escape. Oh well, it was a nice, overcast day with the temps in the 80°s and there were a lot of worse ways to spend the day.
Good to meet FNG John Jennings and hope to see him on lots of our runs. I'm thinking that since I got "short changed" on my driving today, I just might have to hit the road this weekend. :) |

12 years and 40,000 miles of runs, and my Cobra finally broke just north of Wickenburg. The end of a great day. The clutch pedal clevis lever pin broke. Located in the upper footbox, it is the most difficult area to access in the entire car. Karlos was nice enough to offer me a ride home after AAA said I could not ride in the cab with the tow truck driver, because of Covid. Then after 2 1/2 hours waiting, the driver said I could. Sorry for ruining your day Karl. Paul Gelespie came over and cut out an area for an access panel.
