Default Sunday 1/31

Sunday will be the warmest day this weekend, if the forecast holds true. Jim and I are departing Fry's I-17 and Dove Valley at 9:30 AM. Stop in Congress about 10:30 for fuel. Then head up Yarnell Hill, go through Kirkland Valley, to Bagdad. Head back to Horseshoe Café in Wickenburg for breakfast/lunch. It's about a 3 hour drive and the temps should be in the low 60's most of the way.
If you will be there, please let me know Fry's or Congress.

Not that I could find out about. Kirkland is 1500' lower than Prescott. Bagdad 2000' lower. They use cinders, not salt and 39° is the forecast low. Should be good.
You thinking about going?

Yarnell is just shy of 4800'.

Haven't decided yet, but most likely if Scotty is going to spend the day in Prescott helping his daughter.

If I do go, I won't be stopping for a meal. I still have 3 weeks before I'll get my first jab.

CHANGE OF PLANS, same departure. Karl pointed out, Yarnell is at 4800", which creates the potential for wet roads if there is snow.
Depart Fry's 9:30 AM. Stop at Mobil in Wickenburg for fuel. 93 north to AZ 97 to Bagdad. Head east out of Bagdad on AZ 96 for up to 20 miles, or until the roads start getting wet, which ever comes first and return back to Wickenburg the way we came. It will be closer to 3 1/2 hour drive now.

That's why we're not going above 4000'. If the roads start getting wet, we turn around and go back.

AccuWeather is still calling for a high of 73° in Phoenix, tomorrow afternoon. I'll dress in layers and peel them off as necessary. God Forbid I'd get up a sweat.

Enjoy everyone. I am quite jealous. It's 19 degrees and we are expecting a foot of snow here in NJ starting anytime.

Good time to draw up a Cobra inspired engine cover for your snowmobile. LOL Our trade off is most days in the Summer it's just too hot for a ride.

Excellent ride today. 324 miles for me, since I came from East Bum-Screw Mesa. Was only 42° when I left home and I was happy with my electric vest. Legs were cold but once the sun was up high enough they warmed nicely. We had totally clear roads until we got to Yarnell, at 4900' elevation and then drove across a couple snow melt puddles. Nice and salty so I'll be spraying down the underside tomorrow. Jim Cooke, Mark, Keith and I made the trip. To my thinking, it sure was a lot better than staying home.

Karl, they don't use slt on the roads in Arizona. They use cinders.

The roads in Yarnell and on the Hill were whiteish and there is salt on my car.

Northern AZ started using a salt brine a day before snow is predicted.
This started about 2 years ago.
If you see it before the snow comes it looks like 3 to 4 lines of something that leaked out of a truck in each lane.
