There has been talk by the west side guys about leaving a day early and spending 2 nights. They are thinking about going up through Payson and then coming down the Trail to meet the group in Safford or Morenci.
I'll follow when there are more details.

Won't that make it a little impractical for the folks from Tucson?

If they do it, there will be a 2 night Friday departure and the 1 night Saturday usual departure.

"What's your plan for the extra day?"

I'm sure there are PLENTY of fun activities in Springerville

The two day deal is not for me but I am looking forward to the Saturday and Sunday run

It's not my plan. "There has been talk by the west side guys about leaving a day early and spending 2 nights. They are thinking about going up through Payson and then coming down the Trail to meet the group in Safford or Morenci." Saturday they would do the Trail in both directions, I'm guessing.

I spoke with Jignesh, the manager of the America's Best Motel in Springerville about the bed bug issues and scroungy towels some people had the last time we stayed there. He told me that there is new ownership, the rooms have been upgraded and the carpeting replaced with floor tile and that all the towels are new. The pricing has gone up to $65/single and $85 for a double. I told him we MIGHT be needing 15 rooms on October 2nd and that I'd let him know.
I'm inclined to go back there, considering how well Jignesh has treated us in the past, but will go elsewhere, if there are still objections.
Chime in.

BTW, I also checked with the same Best Western we used last year but the manager, Tana was not available to give me the group rate. I'm supposed to get an eMail tomorrow and I'll post the results.

For anyone interested in joining us on Friday, this is the plan:

We will depart from the Chevron Gas station located at 3150 W Carefree Hwy, Phoenix, AZ 85086 at 0730. The trip will take us through Jerome, Sedona, Flagstaff (lunch about 1130), Payson, Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside and Eagar (estimated 1715 arrival.)

On Saturday we will go down the trail to meet the rest of the group in Morenci (or three way) some of us will go back up the trail and some will go up Via New Mexico.

Weather is looking really good for the crew. Friday might be spotty a bit, but that ads to the adventure.

Someone has obviously never been in a Cobra during a downpour. Sometimes you actually have to drill holes in the bottom of the foot box to drain the water.

We certainly had an excellent couple days for our annual Coronado Trail Run. No wrecks or break downs, or room complaints.
I murdered gazillions of bugs but they cleaned off easily with the ceramic coating I'd given my new paint.
Raring to go again!

The run was great, the weather perfect. I think Karl's new metallic purple paint was too pretty for any bugs to hit! Maybe only the butterflies.
