Local arizona Backdraft
Hello all, as I posted in the past I wanted to go a bit more analog with a cobra, I LOVE my Coyote FFR Coyote MK4 but want to go more old school, carb etc.
I am moving forward with another purchase and found a backdraft for sale local but the owners won't be here till early Sept for me to see it... I am wondering if there is a local AZ Backdraft owner I could talk with and see the car up close. I am currently in SoCal and spent yesterday at Hilbank Superformance, love all the cars but a bit out of my price range though I am impressed with Superformance. He suggested I definitely see a Backdraft and sit in one before making a purchase decision. I am quite open to manufacture and would buy another FFR in a second if the right one came along... but MK4, IRS, single hoop doesn't come along too often. Again I have a line on a Backdraft but not available till Sept and just seeing if it's possible to see one up close. |
Where in SoCal are you currently and for how long do you expect to stay in SoCal?
|
Here till Monday, staying in Irvine/HB area, in Long Beach now.

There's an officially licensed BDR builder in Redondo Beach. Name is Alistair Miller. He's a very reputable builder. I've visited his shop once before. His phone number is 310-408-8798. Reach out to him. He might be able to fit you in for a visit to his shop.

Robert, my son has a Backdraft rt3 model BDR1143. Lives in Peoria near 75th Ave and Deer Valley. I'd be glad to show it to you. I could drive over in my SPF667 for comparison since I live about a mile away.

I head back tomorrow morning but have an appointment in the afternoon, I am pretty open through the week as I have it off so just let me know what might work for you both. Thank you again. Bob |
Robert, let's make it Tuesday in am, like 10am provided it's not raining. Meet me at the Q-T on corner of 75th Ave & Deer Valley at 10am. Son will be out of town but I will take you. The Backdraft is new to him so I'm the guy to talk to anyway. I have keys. I will send you his and my address/phone via CC messaging. If you're on Facebook I can to it there also.

A bit of information for ya. Backdrafts bodies are built/assembled in South Africa, where they drive on the left side of the road. That being said, the headlights on BDR Cobras have lenses that are faceted to direct the light to the upper left of the road, thus illuminating signs. However, here in the States, those very same headlights will blind oncoming drivers, not to mention that your headlight illumination of the road will be less than optimum. Consider swapping out the headlight for those designed to be operated on vehicles driven on the right side of the road.
BTW, great looking Cobra! What is the build number? |
