Default wheel hop reduced

Well Jack and Mike helped me put in the new springs.

I had the BRIGHT idea of buring out the rear bushings. To make a long story short, the key to burning them out fast is to throw gasoline on them...J/K ......... get that metal piece out of the middle and open the propane torch and burn it on high. Once it gets going just take a long metal object, old scewdriver or something and keep rimming the inside of the bushings getting the crusty stuff off and wiping the gooy rubber around...that goo burns real fast. it only took me 2 hours to finally figure that out. I was about halfway through before it hit me. The bushings burned in less than 30 minutes. YES it does stink.

The new bushings are in(urathane or however you spell it)....I couldn't put the new KYB's in because Summit sent me the wrong ones! I put the factory 5 rear upper control arms in and kept the bottom stock with the new bushings. I took it for a test drive and I would say the wheel hop was reduced like night and day. The tire bounced once and I grabbed.....before it was like the rearend was coming out for the first 10-20 feet......I still do not have the quad shocks in or the new regular shocks...I hope that will take care of that one little hop it does......and yes those darn Fords Racing Springs went down about 1/2 to 3/4...I still have two coil lengths left to adjust higher.

Thank you Jack & Mike...it was my first time doing the springs on a car and now I know how.

I did the same thing when I replaced the busings on mine, the first arm I melted out as you did and made a hell of a mess. The rest of them I heated up the outside with a torch and then used a air hammer to knock it out, took about 30 seconds. and a lot less mess then melting the whole thing out. Then I ended up replacing all my arms with custom ones........ I know have a set of factory arms with new urathane busings that have never been used..... Any body interested??????? I also have a set of KYB shocks for the front that I didn't use because I went with coil overs. Also have the upper and lower Mustang II with new bushings in them also, never used if anyone is interested. Hell at this rate I will have enought parts for another car before I finish this one.

Jason,

Wheel hop....one jump...I can do that too when I launch at 850 rpm Now how about a good 2500 dump of the clutch....

The Quad shocks will help. You should be able to have my Quad brackets Sat. night...I hope. Depends on this hot weather.

If you want them real bad...You have experience cutting the bolts..

I noticed when you left here the other day your ride height was still alittle bit low. Remember 4.75 in the rear and 4.5 in the front.

Mike

Mike,

I didn't launch at 2,500 in front of your house, but on the way back to my house, me and Jack used that stretch in Bel Air. I got the rpms up to 2,500 and hit it, one little hop then she took.

Yes the car dropped 1/2 to 3/4 from your house and back to mine. I will be doing that tonight. I will get the right shocks from Summit and see how it goes....if I have a half a bounce left after that then I might go with the quad shocks...

are you taking yours off? You said something about you taking the brackets off
