Building A Cobra????
I NEED A HOBBY, BUT I HAVE LIMITED KNOWLEDGE OF CARS. I WANT TO BUILD A COBRA AND HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT THE LONE STAR. THE REASON THE LONESTAR APPEALS TO ME IS THE FOLLOWING:
1) 94 INCH WHEEL BASE SOMETHING ABOUT IT LOOKS GOOD TO ME, NOT THAT I'M TO TALL AND CAN'T FIT INTO ANY REPLICA.
2)ALL PARTS ARE NEW AND INCLUDED IN THEIR KIT FROM LONESTAR. I DO NOT WANT TO MESS WITH REFURBISHING OLD PARTS OR DONOR CARS.
3)REALLY LIKE THE INTERIOR. THE SPORT SEATS WITH HEADRESTS. LOOK COMFY. I DO NOT WANT AN EXACT REPLICA. I WANT A BETTER COBRA.
4) PEDALS NOT SHIFTED TO THE SIDE DUE TO SIDE WELL.
THE PRICE SEEMS EXPENSIVE AT 17,995.00 FOR THE KIT MINUS WHEELS AND TIRES,ENGINE AND TRANS,AND REAR END. WITH THE OPTIONAL 9" REAR END AND WHEEL AND TIRE OPTION AND PAINT WERE LOOKING AT 26,000.00-27,000.00. WHEN YOU CAN GET A TURNKEY MINUS FROM BACKDRAFT FOR THE SAME AMOUNT ALREADY BUILT WITH IRS, LEATHER, ETC.
SORRY FOR BEING SO LONG WINDED... WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IF LONESTAR IS A BETTER QUALITY .IS THIS A GOOD VALUE? OR ARE THERE OTHER MANUFACTURERS THAT SUPPLY A KIT WITH ALL THE PARTS NEEDED THAT A NOVICE COULD BUILD FOR LESS MONEY OR THAT HAS A BETTER VALUE. WHAT ABOUT FFR WOULD GORDON LEVY SUPPLY A KIT WITH ALL THE PARTS? THANKS FOR ANY INFO..

26,000 to 27,000 yeah right!!! Try 30,000 to 35,000 with decent running gear and a PAINT JOB!

building or buying a Cobra
There are as many options and directions as you can think of. You are here in the valley so its possible to take a ride in several different manufacturers and talk to the owners. Give me a call and lets go for a ride (602) 402 8504. Jeff C

Lone Star owner here, the cars are GREAT! the extra wheel base is very nice, lots -o leg room. What sold me was the frame, able to handle my BB429. they do cost a little more, and they are built diffrent than FF5's. Any Cobra is a good Cobra! Don't worry about the cost, SELL THAT Viper!!!!! (hehehehe)

Building a hot rod is more expensive than buying a completed one 99% of the time. Plus it takes a lot of time, patience, space, knowledge, tools, etc.
